Hi. I seem to have a social script 24/7 it seems and I'm STILL WRONG!

Example: "Oh I'll let dad wash his own set of white clothes (since he bleaches his whites) tomorrow."

Him: Barges into my room OMG! WHY DIDN'T YOU WASH MY CLOTHES TODAY OMG!

I'm sitting there shocked stunned that he'd just jump down my throat like that shocked stunned not knowing what to think WOW!

Last night as I was going to bed I said "good night see you tomorrow" to family and they snapped back sure ok (or something IMO rude.)

But the social script in our family is to say goodnight see you tomorrow or something to that context. I find this social script rule weird! I'm just as content going to bed without the "goodnight" term. BUT that's the wrong social script in this family since not doing it for a few weeks (this was a couple years ago) mom barged into my room yelling at me OMG! why don't you say goodnight anymore OMG! what if you/them aka family didn't wake up in the morning OMG! RUDE! etc.

Also social scripts for what to say for practically ALL OF MY FAMILY!

I live with my 2 little sisters 13 & 15 & mom/dad.

I also use social scripts for chores OMG! better clean house or mom will be "in a bad mood" upset OMG! I worked all day what did you do (is usually her line to me.) Some days I like to lay around the house not do much yet a social rule on our cruise vacation is lay around do nothing or drink at the bar or gamble at the casino UGH! social things I'm totally not interested in. :-(

If I'm going to lay around outside I live in Florida the beach is 20min. away or lay in my own bed why lay outside on a cruise ship and to waste all your money on gambling or destroy braincells drinking yourself to death NOT MY IDEA OF FUN!

Back in December our last trip (before the cruise) I was anxious and pacing at the airport at a layover again the social norm is sit there on your phones Netflix/game/DS etc. I rather be alone do that ALONE in my own room/on the couch etc. not in a crowd of noisy people!! !!

Ahh family, sometimes a vent about them is needed, mine is annoying me lately, but I wouldn't be without them either. :? Sometimes the 'never saying the right thing' seems to be a standard part of being alive.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

That's why you have to make friends outside your family.

Families tend to get too used to each other.

That's just families.

Either you all walk on eggshells all the time, and everything is so high-toned that one misstep throws it all into chaos (my family is like this-- very polite, you smile and keep the music turned up and the party going no matter how rotten you feel, but hellish tense)...

...or you take out your frustrations on each other, and sometimes when X, Y, or Z family member is in a bad mood, you can do exactly what they asked you to and it's STILL wrong.
