I'm not sure if I can handle living this life anymore:(
Snake – are you good with art or writing – your anger could be most beneficial for the arts – if you have no such talent – then you probably just haven’t found it – Could not some of the most successful artists and writers of the past have been aspies. Their lack of human intimacy may have driven them to fulfill it out on paper, sculpture or canvas. Getting into the arts may move you into circles of people who shared the same anxiety. Why would a normal person create a masterpiece when their mind revolves around the “common” human bond of experience – yes, the art is rooted deep beneath pain – when you uproot trees and shrubs, don’t your hands hurt and get dirtier as the roots fight back – where their the strongest. You’d be surprised how much we artists control the world of the normal – I decide what music they like – what TV or movies they watch – what tourist attractions they see or how they dress. I’m (the artist as a collective unit) tell my people what they can and can’t spend their money on – don’t believe me – the word Johnny Depp or Leonardo DeCaprio should answer that for you – did they not portray writers who were weird in films. Failure=’s a movement of creativity through turmoil.

You don't live in Australia, do you? Tony Attwood just did a broadcast on ABC Radio National yesterday (thanks to BazzaMcKenzie for the heads-up), and talked about the need for acceptance...

no, sorry i, with dehumanising i meant....well..
like in my experiance, iv been treated like, what i had to say about it, didnt count count cause heck, i was autistic. also they shoved all those labels onto me (evey year another one), but never explaned to me what the f these things mean, like i would have no need for that kind of information. they even, on the last change of my diagnosis, kept it effectively a secret, and i only found out years later that i no longer "was" asperger, but 'had" pdd-nos.
iv seen this sortof thing happen to others as well. people wioth autism tend to eb treated as if they arent fully a human being. and i intensly resent that they do so.
and eyah, adhd's are alloud to be that. they arent frowned upon any more then say, a dyslectic or astmatic.
but schizo's have it bad. schizofrenia is uncurable, they can have recurring psychoses their entire life. people dont really tend to accept them fully. bipolars...well there just very quite anoying and people seem very judgemental about that. and you never know when someone is manic or depressed if you havent seen them in a while....
still they do not seem to get "dehumanised" as much... they can demand to be treated fairly, which people with autism often seem not to, cause there considered unreasonable anyway or something.
ow and schizofrenics have quite the same issues with relationships, affection, those sorta things. emotionally they arent very different from aspergers. only difference is with them it is less consistend.
ow, yeah i believe there has even been a bipolar president once...and napoleon was bipolar..
EDUCATION,FAMILIARIZATION,it's sosososososo important. Having been interested in Psychology as a means to understand myself and others for decades, it was only this year that I even became aware that anything such as Aspergers or Alexithymia existed. Now that's from a person who reads a lot and in her life has met a lot of people.
If people do not understand what they are dealing with, they react several different ways, depending on the terms of the encounter. Involvement with an aspie at work, in a work situation would have different elements than in a personal dating relationship. But ignorance just breeds confusion and fear and insecurity. Religion and insecurity have caused the demise of more people and things than one can imagine. That and ignorance, a failure to understand and comprehend. A frightened animal may actually bite the hand that wishes to nurture it.
It's normal for NT's to assume you are NT and respond to your actions, ie read your behavior the way they would read it in an NT, which would lead them to see you in quite an erroneous way. I mean none of us wear signs, our accents and language doesn't even indicate our personality type, or psychological make up.Many of an aspies mannerisms, comments and actions translate to an NT as rejection, condescension, disapproval, and disinterestt, when in fact that may not be the case at all,but if that is the perception, that is what is going to be responded to. What a mess HUH? So the NT feels, insult, lack of appreciation and lack of respect, or just plain disinterest. When people feel that, they often withdraw from the source, respond by acting the same way in return, or try to change the attitude, and when that doesn't work, they slink off broken and defeated or angry, some less evovled and angry people may rally revenge. How sad, when all we strated out with was two people who simply wanted love and acceptance, to be heard, seen, appreciated, respected and understood. Valued.
I think there must be a huge thrust by the media, movies, politics, and marketing to raise awareness off the differences and the ways in which the spectrum manifests and presents, in addition to all the positive things that aspies lend to our society, especially in the important fields of technology and engineering. People like Bill Gates, or any successful person diagnosed with Aspergers should come out and take on the responsibility of educating the ignorant masses, creating a greater understanding and appreciation for the differences, not confusion and misunderstanding. there are even many, many aspies who don't even know about their condition, or why they aren't mainstream and struggle with it for years before they even realize what and why.
There are people who want to and would bridge this gap if they were directly and accurately informed.
Any form of acceptance in any society by any minority requires a sort of movement and that starts with familiarization and education of who and what it means to be that segment of society, in addition to spotlighting the many psoitive and important things that group has contributed to our culture and the world as a whole.
It does mean coming together as a group, finding and supporting one another, but not always living seperately, but integrating successfully, and that only happens as people become more aware and understanding of one another, only then can they interpret each other correctly , and that is the first step in acceptance and successful interaction.
Because your talents are more and more valuable to society now than maybe ever before, this I predict will be your century to shine. A new day is coming! Really, but we all have to to educate one another, share ideas, reactions, thoughts perceptions in an objective manner. We may all be happier as a result, deeper and more fulfilled.
