Poor you, i'm so sorry about your dog, loss sucks, but your dog will be better off.

It is all right to get another dog and love it after one dies or has to be put down. It really does help and I see no betrayal, rather an affirmation of the love of the one that I had before.

Losing your dog must be hard for you to accept. But like what other posters here have said, it would be best for the dog if he is in extreme pain.
