Sometimes I find it hard to keep up with the level of posting on this site. Especially on the serious discussion threads there is so much to read and process. A lot of the time i find myself bombarded with huge walls of text and much of the discussion is really technical so its hard to keep up. i just feel less intelligent and inferior when I write short, puny, concise replies. I tend to just continue writing until I feel I've made my point and then I just stop. I don't have a habit of 'droning on' unless I'm really interested in the subject. Does anyone else feel like this?

I'm not whining or anything. Just making an observation!

If someone posts something really long, I can only read it if it's broken up into paragraphs. If it's all one block, I don't have the attention span for it. That is the whole point of paragraphs, after all.

It's the same with me. But if the post is too long I don't usually read all of it and I may skip parts of it, even if it is in paragraphs. Sometimes it makes it hard for me to give a reply though.

I've written a long post or two when I really had something to say. But not often.

I have noticed some posters who habitually write long posts that have me confused within sentances  But I think such people actually, like the OP said, have a point to make or are really interested in the subject.

after a while, I just tune it out; I may read two dozen page-length postings, but sheesh, I know I'm going to be 'dinged' 8 pages later by something in the middle I missed...;)

I almost skipped through this post...had it been any longer.

Seriously I feel the same way and have a very short attention span. Can't sit for more than 2 hours tops. I'll usually skim through the post if it grabs my attention or what's left of it.

Anyway gotta go now, I can't keep up with typing this long...

Was my last post a bit short? LOL
I think my biggest gripe are long paragraphs. I feel if you have a lot to say it reads better if you break it up into shorter paragraphs.
Another one is past and copying large blocks of text from elsewhere on the internet. I would just paste and copy a sample of it, block quote it and provide a link to the source. I usually accompany a few of my own words outside the quotes. You have to be careful not the plagiarise stuff.

I nearly always write long posts, 'cos I'm a wordy person. Hopefully this one will be short.

I'm a big fan of using paragraphs too. I can't read posts without sensible breaks.

Sometimes I find myself writing a whole bunch of one-line paragraphs (like this).

Anyway, I hate short one-word or one-phrase posts because they tell me nothing.

I do get overwhelmed though. Particularly since I get RSS feeds of everything on this site.

I almost didn't click on the topic in fear of getting hit with a WALL of text. :?
