Do you like Gucci or Dooney and Burke handbags better?

Like, I was at the mall at 5th avenue in New York yesterday and I was doing some window shopping and I saw some GORGEOUS handbags. The Gucci was glittering with its golden emblem! But, the Dooney and Burke handbags were a little more more affordable and they were still stylish.

So, which do you think I should get, the Gucci or the Dooney and Burke? Remember, I need the handbag that looks cutest on me! I wear red high-heels and a red tank-top with a miniskirt some days, and on other days, I wear a dress and black boots.

Gucci is fine and dandy but for you I'd pick Doony. Nothing compares to Faded Glory d'WalMart though.

Think function rather than style. Which is easier to carry? Can hold more stuff? Better protects your stuff from the rain? Better value for money?

You mean I don't get this fashion thing? :D :D :D

I could go ahead and buy a Gucci purse - but I wouldn't have any money to put into it after my purchase. :D :D :D

I don't see the point in spending thousands on a purse.
It holds objects.
It scratches up like any other purse.
It can be stolen like any other purse except in more danger of being stolen.
It screams "Hey I have money come rob me!"

Celebrities can get away with it because they have the money to buy security guards to show off in front of the cameras.

If you can afford it easily, buy the Gucci. I've only had one D&B purse and I hated it and sold it as fast as I could. Now if you want us to really help you pick you need to include pictures or links to those specific purses. ;)

*Shouldn't this be in women's forum?

I have no idea how to answer that question. I mean, what would you put in the purse? Where would you take it? Is it for certain occasions or to take everywhere? Like, I put everything in mine - including especially books - so they need to be big enough to support that, plus my various cards (ID, debit, EBT, Social Security, etc), my cell phone, makeup (because I do wear it when I have reason to). I usually get big handbags to handle everything, but I don't even look at brand names, or the brand names they may be imitating, since I usually buy them at Payless Shoes.

Sort of a moot point, I still have the same purse I purchased in 2002. It's falling apart badly enough I really should replace it.

Stay safe: "Which one is bought and then shown off by most women and men?" People will know you're one of them ("our bags connect us!")

Downside: You're one of many and people will irrational use that against you ("isn't swbluto boring to have that bag too?") in order to pretend they're not lacking self-esteem.

Be brave: "Which one is (secretly) most desired but rarely bought and shown off?" People will pay attention to you ("swbluto is important and special!")

Downside: You stand out and people will irrationally use that against you ("who in their right mind gets that bag?") in order to pretend they're not envious.

Possible solution: get them all. Then show off a bag for a day.

Just watch out, you don't want your keys or cell phone to remain dully forgotten in the depths of yesterday's bag while you're out with another.

What in God's name makes you imagine I'd recognise either a Gucci or a whatever-the-other-one-was if I saw one? Or if I did recognise them, that I'd bother thinking about them long enough to assign a favourite? 8O

I buy my handbags in charity shops. I've got a 1950s snakeskin Jane shilton. It is really made of snake 8O

The reason I don't feel evil carrying it around is because it's from a charity shop and those snakes died over half a century ago.

I can't believe I'm the first one to say this, but you guys - swbluto is trolling. He's a guy, and I highly doubt he's someone who would shell out cash for a designer purse.
