I was going to say something like, yeah it's kind of annoying when people break a nail and call it tragic or something. Some people do tend to go a bit overboard.

He was the founding member. A dream he had held for some years, I believe.

Comparing a single suicide to a national tragedy is asking for a firestorm. I don't know what country you're from, but I'm an American and hearing you say something like that makes my blood boil. I'm not going to flame you, but somebody else probably will.

I am Cascadian. But my point was, I just don't see a large number of people dying as automatically being tragic. To me tragic does not just equal bad, it has a certain character of badness to it.

I had this friend who used to phone me all the time in the Early 90s and everything bad that happened to her was a tragedy.

If I prick my finger: that's tragedy.

If you fall down the stairs and break your neck: thats comedy!

It's just like not anything good is automatically 'epic' .... tragic is like, someone who's finally learned to love life after being depressed for many years getting hit by a car and dying.

According to Alanis Morissette logic, that's 'ironic'.

Hahaha. Tragedy and irony are kind of related, but not really the same.
