http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amish

There are so many things I'd miss, like my CDs, possibility to learn past the 8th grade, freedoms i have now, ect.
also i hate wearing dresses and would need my freedom that i get from the arts. I'm also very sarcastic and like to make jokes which I don't think the amish would very much approve of.

I need video games to live. I'd be insane within two days of losing them.

It wouldn't be the material stuff so much as it is the communal lifestyle that would be stressful.

Sure, I would miss my music and videogames and the Internet, but I could also be happy just staring a the clouds and that kind of stuff. Only problem would be the social aspect, would they leave me alone all day? Or would I "have to" be social all day?

No 'net, no cable/broadband, no phones, no games, no pr0n, no technology whatsoever... cut of my oxygen, why don'tcha?
Throw in the "God God God God God God God God God" and I'd be stark raving mad at the end of the first week.

i would despise all the structure that i don't really follow. okay, you're a woman, so go knit something or cook my dinner. what kind of life would that be? i need some excitement like dancing, painting or running freely outside, feeling the wind through my fingers.

Thanks Tinky, that's the other thing that'd have me grinding my teeth.

"Get in the kitchen, woman, and make me some pie!"
WHAM
"What'd you hit me for?"
"Talking to your wife like you own her. Make your own damned pie."

If I was born and raised Amish, I imagine I wouldn't care... But to actually become Amish at this point in my life? No way in hell.

if i was born an amish then i still wouldn't understand the whole "god and all his glory" thing because me and religion have never clicked. religion has always been something that was just kinda there. i'd imagine that the amish would shun me.
