The Swedish "warrior king" Charles XII was the one who first brought coffee to Sweden. He first tasted it during his time in Turkey.

10 December 1868, the first traffic lights were installed outside the British Houses of Parliament in London, by the railway engineer J.P. Knight. They resembled railway signals of the time, with semaphore arms and red and green gas lamps for night use. The gas lantern was turned with a lever at its base so that the appropriate light faced traffic. Unfortunately, it exploded on 2 January 1869, injuring the policeman who was operating it.

Hitler's successor as Fuhrer was Admiral Karl Doenitz, one-time commander of Germany's U-Boat service.

Not really. I've got a five-shelf bookcase behind me crammed with history books, not to mention a book on the Seviet-German aspect of World War II inches away from my keyboard, and this was the best I could come up with.

Afte the Catholic James II was booted from the English throne in favor of the Protestant William III and Mary II, people who still supported James and his heirs as the true kings of England were called Jacobites. The current Jacobite heir is, ironically, Queen Elizabeth II, the throne's current occupant.

Prussian Field Marshal von Blucher, the man who saved Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo, was a delusional loon who often believed himself to be pregnant with an elephant.

A lot of people think Hitler's real name might have actually been Schicklgruber, but it was actually Werbert.

On Oct. 25, 1854, the "Charge of the Light Brigade" took place during the Crimean War as an English brigade of more than 600 men, facing hopeless odds, charged the Russian army during the Battle of Balaclava and suffered heavy losses.

The Routemaster was concieved, between 1947 and 1954. The Routemaster Prototype was tested in 1954. The first fleet of Routemasters were hired into the London Transport system, in 1956.

Three for the price of one.

Ding! Ding!
