I agree with everything you said as that was truly the case; the heat and/or humidity I can do without, but what I dread the most are thunderstorms that often result with the transition from the hot, humid air to drier, more pleasant conditions. We had a couple of big storms this past week; I'm lucky the house is still standing!
Anyway, the height of my thunderstorm dread builds during the day, and the height comes when the first rumble of thunder is heard. Just two days ago, I saw the gruesome gray skies and when the winds came lashing, I ran into my parents' bedroom and hunkered down there for 45 minutes or so, long after the worst of the storm passed.
