With this being the 4th of July weekend here in the US of A, the summer season is well underway in the Northern Hemisphere. Simple question here: what are your favorite/least favorite parts of the summer season (regardless of where you live in the world)?

i like summer because, well, no school, and i can do whatever i want.
but often it can get really boring. also at this time of year, there's no precipitation, everything dries up, i get sunburned all the time, and with the heat, i get sweats and it's super hard to go to sleep.

I live in the UK.

What I like about the summer:-

-No snow
-Can wear less clothes
-It's easier to get up in the mornings because it's light and warm
-The garden looks beautiful and inviting to sit in
-There are butterflies and flowers
-I like the heat and the sunshine
-You can spend a day out better (if it's not raining)
-You don't need the radiators on
-Longer days and shorter nights

What I dislike about the summer:-

-Nights are too hot and uncomfortable in bed
-More people/noisy kids are out

I agree with everything you said as that was truly the case; the heat and/or humidity I can do without, but what I dread the most are thunderstorms that often result with the transition from the hot, humid air to drier, more pleasant conditions. We had a couple of big storms this past week; I'm lucky the house is still standing!

Anyway, the height of my thunderstorm dread builds during the day, and the height comes when the first rumble of thunder is heard. Just two days ago, I saw the gruesome gray skies and when the winds came lashing, I ran into my parents' bedroom and hunkered down there for 45 minutes or so, long after the worst of the storm passed.

+ Weather, weather, weather
+ Trees in full foliage, animals abundant
+ Racing season
+ Less work
+ Chances of holidays
+ Long daylight hours
+ More fruit and veg

- Not productive without work
- No football
- Town centres full of hideously-dressed folk
- Hard to contact the odd person
- Sweaty back when wearing a backpack

I massively prefer the summer.

Bonfires, which I am at one right now, basketball outside, and the occassional party are some good things.

I don't like all the annoying bugs, and sometimes I miss school.

I love everything about it, except when the humidity is so high it's hard to breathe or function.

Things I Like

- It's relaxing
- Break from school
- I don't have to wear anything but a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, my preferred attire
- My birthday is in the summer

Thing I Dislike

- It can get very boring
- It gets too hot here, often getting up to triple-digit heat

Like that I can wear shorts outside & there's no messy snow or ice. The weather's better for walking & gets dark later

Dislike feeling hot & humid, allergies are worse & it's harder for me to sleep even when the temp is lower; it seems like I have a paradoxical reaction to vitamin D because I get more depressed & moody in the summer or outside a lot.

The heat, which can lead to my shirts sticking to me when sitting in the car for an extended period of time.
