My coffee pot quit working its truly tragic!

You need one of these. While you're at it, get a decent grinder as well and grind the coffee very course for the maker.

I think that's how I'd react if my computer stopped working (knock on wood), although I'm sure my instinct for survival would eventually kick in.

As someone above suggested, get a Coffee Press.
You can do coffee in a pan,wait till the water boils,then add coffee and turn off,sprinkle cold water on top to help settle the grounds."Cowboy Coffee." It's usually pretty strong.
