I remembered how to make an origami figure during a meeting of my school's Japanese Club earlier today.

I learned that if you give someone a "thumbs up" in any European country outside the UK, it is the equal of giving someone the "middle finger" in the US.

Really? Not in Ukraine.

I looked it up but don't get what you mean. By body you mean a person, or a physical body?

Winnie the Pooh is apparently popular in Japan.

In Russia, it is considered rude for a person to finish a meal regardless of what is being served.

Especially in a country with a history of famine. I think it's scandalous how much food is wasted (and dumped on the ground-disgusting-where I live.) People dump their uneaten food around the trash can, not even in it. Ugh!

If you put a Stretch Armstrong action figure in a vacuum chamber, he will blow up like a balloon, but he won't pop because apparently the latex is too strong. Which is probably good because cleaning up his non-toxic food-grade corn syrup innards afterwards wouldn't be very pleasant.

That the Wham-O toy company has made a startling number of really dangerous toys that ended up being recalled.

Like Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, which gave off noxious fumes.

And very real crossbows and machetes and even throwing knives. 8O

But they've also made a few classic toys that are still being made, like Frisbee, Hula-hoops and Hacky Sack.

I've noticed that the "Log" toy in The Ren and Stimpy Show was from a company called Blammo, which can only be a spoof of Wham-O. :)

Samuel Barber's "Knoxville- summer of 1915" is a sublime piece of musical poetry. :dj:

If you lean backwards when trying to end a bloody nose, you may swallow your own blood, so leaning forward when a bloody nose happens is the better solution.
