Maybe I aught to read about it in the medical journals again. Last time I read about it, I decided to wait 5 years to see if the technology improved (and it seems like it did). I heard that your eyes can go back to needing glasses, but not that it would get worse than before.

It definitely has improved a lot. The risk has gone down a lot, although they still don't know what will happen in fifty years in terms of how your eyes will age.

Yeah, your eyes can get worse again again. But it's because they would have gotten worse anyway. Lasik only corrects your current vision problem. It doesn't prevent your eyes from continuing to get worse. That's why they don't recommend the surgery until your eyes are past the age where they're usually changing rapidly.

Yeah, that's the other thing. Like if I end up selling violins, I think people want a sales person to look somewhat appealing. I think I look like a bug. I think about how horrible & thick my glasses are all the time.

Anyway, it's late so I am going to sleep. Peace.

LostInSpace, my dad's vision is not anywhere near as bad as mine. He got LASIK about 10-11 years ago after it first became popular. The effect has since worn off and he has to wear glasses again (not for farsightedness).

So can he get the LASIK again, or is it a once-in-a-lifetime thing?
