Certain German words are cool. Like "blitzkrieg", "Dortmunder Union" ( a beer brand),and "telefunken" ( I think that the name of an electric company).

In college I lived with two Germans.

Their majors were physics and math

Even their English was better than mine

They told the landlord that I cooked "stinky food".

The landlord had the nerve to evict me

The landlord only gave me 14 day notice, not 30 like in the contract.

The landlord had the nerve to ask me "are you a boy or a girl?". Even though I was crossdressing. And I was 21 years old. How demeaning

But that was in 2004 San Diego. Before the lgbt laws

And they did not ask in a condescending way

They just didn't know better

The eviction was a nightmare

Almost ended up homeless

Did you make a typo?

Did you mean that he asked you that "even though I was NOT crossdressing"?

ie that you usually cross dressed, but he was still confused about your gender even on the one day that you didn't cross dress?

Or what?

I as well would say that German is a beautiful language. The languages considered to be romance languages I find to be rather annoying to listen to.

Instead they should have asked " what pronoun do you use"

How about "are you male or female"

"Girl" and "boy" sounds so condescending
