Ever been to a speech/lecture/seminar other than in class?

Ones I've wuitnessed (personally; not on TV!):

-a Canadian Navy information night
-people at the museum of science in Ottawa tellingthis funny story incorporating all these scientific facts and full of demonstrations of them.
-this woman coming to the day camp when I was 9 and exlaining how the human ear worked (? LOL!)
-These speeches by this guy named Otis Grant... therewere one or two fo them... I think it was on accepting blacks, or the importance of eduication, or both. I think both took place at Lakeside Academy.
-a woman talking about black history at QAA (another school I went to)
-a breast cancer survivor giving a speech about her experience and that, again at QAA
-this war veteran named Mr. Moffatt giving a speech abotu his experiences and that when I was in grade 3, at my school. He was in the first or 2nd world war.
-A show at QAA featuring a paraplegic who was in a car accident, a girl who died in a car accident and I think other stuff
-a speech at BHS (another high school I went to) by the parents of Chris Gallant, this boy who died in his sleep who was a student there, a year below me.
-thisd guy at LA (Lakeside Academy) who talked about the pecking order
-the vice prince at LA, Mr. James (Jim) Wallach, talking about how he was at a school in Brooklyn where he grew up, how kids would bring knives to school and they had to go through metal detectors, how we were lucky we could just walk into the school and how he got a baseball scholarship but as he was outside one day shooting baskets, his friends came up to him and told him he had been dafted into the army; they had seen on TV! He was sent to Vietnam and had PTSD. He was trying to discourage violence at the school; there had just been a fight that was all over the school.
-a fireman explaining stuff outside to us as we stood in lines in elementary school
-the principal coming into our third-grade class with a girl who was punched in the face and that part of her face was swollen
-safe-risk presentation at TISS (another high school I went to) featuring info on how not to cross our stupid line, and this quadraplegic who talked about the stupid risk that got him paralysed. Then we went out to witness a simulation of the aftermath of the crash of a car (containing 3 or 4 teens) into a train.
-a guy giving a speech to a small gorup of us in grade 9 about the IMF adn stuff, and I think the World Bank
-people getting their Canadian citizenship-- the ceremony was right there in the gym at QAA, with all of us watching
-a presentation involving a guy who showed us his bald spot and talked about how he lost his memory in an accident because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and there was also a video thing featuring this kid named Street Smart who always wore a helmet when he biked and followed all the rules, and also featured kids wanting to play cops & robbers with a gun they found in a box but someone convinced the little girl to tell her mom about it instead. This was after we won our bikes in grade 3 following our winning Peace Park poster and we were taken to see the farm and for a free lunch and to claim our bikes.
-the father of this girl who died in a car crash along with her friend gave a speech and a slideshow on it, at LA
-probably others too that I don't remember. I think it was another guy who talked about the pecking order that also talked about these depressed girls who were picked on (and my classmates teased me about it, said "That's SO Katherine!", etc. )

Oh, yeh, we've also had guest speakers:

A man who came into my grade 4 or 5 class and talked about money...
A man who ameto my grade 2 class to talk about an islaic holiday...
A man who came intomy grade 9 homeroom/English class and tked about abortion for teens and stuff... I think he ws from the adolescent linic.
A man came into my gade 11 biology class in grade 10 to tlk about Place Cartier the adult education centre for students aged 16 nd older...
The school nurse came to my grade 5 class to talk about puberty...
A man from the Royal Bank (I thik it was that bank) came into my grade 11 math-for-personal-finance class in grade 12 to talk about money...
The school nurse came into my class one or two of my years in elementary school to tlk about hed lice...
A dental hygienist came to my kindergartenclass and there was this puppet show about how important it was to keep yur teeth clean...
A woman came to my grade 11 parenting class in grade 1 to talk about her pregnancy, her delivery an the time she spent in the hospital with her premture baby...
In visual communications class in grade 11 a professional photographer came in nd showed us his (non-digital0 equipment, and talked a lot...

Wow...how do you remember all those seminars/guest speakers?

Yeah, I've gone to seminars when teachers tell me that if I go to them then I dont have to write certain papers. I also get a lot of guest speakers in my human sexuality class.
