Are you close to your family?

Well, here's how I see it:

Everyone else in my house is really raucous watching TV while I'm trying to have some quiet in my room.

My parents are very condescending and quick to point out when I'm wrong. They also badger me to talk about my personal life, even though it's my personal life.

My brother is rude and mean to me, constantly putting me down when I make mistakes or when I express interest in something that he thinks is "retarded" or "gay". He purposefully insults me at any opportunity, just to get a rise out of me.

My aunts, uncles, and cousins aren't that hard on me, although they can seem a bit condescending if I say anything out of line with what they're expecting from me. In general, most of them are fairly loud, and I don't connect with a lot of them.

They're all too overwhelming for me.


The family member I have the most in common with is my grandmother. We both have similar attitudes and can talk for a long time. When I visit, we usually talk about how we don't "get" the rest of our family, watch TV, and eat lots of snacks (like ice cream, graham crackers and peanut butter, or sandwiches we find in the refrigerator).

Pretty much the same here.

Both my dad and I are aspies, so I am pretty much like him in every way. Both my brother and mom are not aspies. My dad and mom and polar opposites. My brother and I are the same way. My home can be quite a war zone sometimes.

I don't know if overall I am close to my family or not. My dad is like my best friend, my brotherand I are kinda somewhat close, and my mom and I are not close at all. Crazy.
