today i went to church in downtown beirut. i think i remember going there when i was a really little kid for mass with my cousin. we sat on the side benches which fold back into the wall. the church is ancient and has been used as a site of worship for 1000s of years. there's an archaeological dig down below. it was savaged during the civil war but restored.
