I think they are people who are emotional goths and often cut themselves, supposidly they like being depressed. I don't think they are bad, I have not realy met any true emos, but I have met people who dress a lot in black (me included) and have no problem.

Emos are not worth hatred and I wrote it in another thread, it's too noble feeling for them... but as I meet them more and more often, not only in the streets, but here too, THEY DRIVE ME MAD!
Goths have fun at least, but emos only cry, just give a reason... Anyway, why creating more and more threads about them?

Emo has now become a word overly used as an expression of one who shows any emotions.

Used to mean and in some ways still does a certain kind of gothic look in a mosh sort of way usually you see the haird wisped to one side and then tight pants on guys while girls can wear short skirts.....the dark side to school uniform to give you an idea. Usually hair is dyed black and/or red but again this certain trend has now kind of crossed that genre or the other way around. Also teens who have nothing better to do than to cut themselves...don't know where this came about exactly but I know that a lot of trends start and then fade quick and slow.

And then of course there's music...but you'd have to ask someone else's advice on emo music since that's now not used as term anymore but an add-insult.

I've always heard that emos were people that showed emotion. I guess most humans are emo then.

They say that like most people don't feel emotions, are they also saying that most people aren't human too? 8O

Emo is more of a fad these days then a actual issue. To me if someone cuts themselves, they have a real issue and should get help, but kids these days are doing it just to be cool or get attention..... people like that really aren't worth my time.

That's BS. That term is still used. You're just a little too old to know any emos I guess.

I still know of MANY people who still call themselves emo and there is even an emo genre of music.

OK, I'll admit it, I hate emos with a passion. Someone who feels self-pity for themselves to try and be cool has f*****g issues. I hate the lame-ass poetry that emos come up with and all of that other stupid bullshit. Emos are dumb teenagers who will most likely grow up to be dumb adults. I know some people who used to call themselves emos, I look at them now and they are still stupid and most likely will always be.

I dislike tagging people so I frankly couldn't really care what an emo is. Unless there is a scientifical explanation with specific descriptions that work for all emos, then we talk about a subcultural thing rather than a species so your definition is blurred anyway. Just live and let live. I don't know what an emo is to be honest, as I am not too familiar with such descriptions, but I don't understand how people can be bothered by them. If you don't like a specific group of people, it is as easy as staying away from them.

Some people have 'phases' in their life, and this one is popular with teenagers. In a few years it will be over and in most cases they will be 'normal' again. It is like goths, skinheads, etc. most people get over it. There will some people hang onto it, but that will be a few. I am really interested in what they do in a few years.

A type of person that presents as being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, and/or angsty; and that is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.

They seem to both hate and pity themselves simultaneously.

Also, the ones I've met seem to be adept at twisting whatever I say or do into a personal attack, launch into a whiny rant about how no one understands them, and then sulk and pout until someone else comes along to repeat the cycle.
