I have seen Richard Dreyfuss in a live play, in a small theatre (so up pretty close) in my local town (UK) - I didn't meet him, but my ex-landlady who is an actress and was in the same play, got his autograph for me (kind, but it wasn't as if I was a fan!).

I saw The Queen in a car going past when she visited my suburb as a child, again didn't meet her though.

A girl I used to work with told me she met Robin Williams in an art gallery once and spoke to him.

That's about as ambitious as it gets for me!

My best friend used to work for BA at Gatwick in the special services lounge. She met and escorted quite a number of famous people, including Janet Jackson.

Yes, I've met Guns N Roses before they were famous in concert at CBGB's. In social events and/or working projects I've also met former Mrs. Wildensteen (lion woman), Daryl Hannah, David Bowie and Iman, David Dinkins, Armand Assanti, Nichol Williamson, Nile Rogers, Journey, David Lee Roth, Iggy Pop, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), B-52's, Cyndi Lauper, Ashford & Simpson. I have been at an event with the Dalai Lama and Harrison Ford but I did not actually meet them, but it really was nice to be in close proximity to HF :-)

My first meet of a famous person was when I was 13. I was working as cashier at a farm stand and the lead singer of Air Supply came in asking for directions to the Westbury Music Fair. Unfortunately I could not help him. I asked him if he was going to a show there, and he said he was playing in the show. I asked who he was, and he told me, to which I was extremely embarrassed for not recognizing him (but what else is new) LOL

I met Michael Vick. He was much nicer than expected, he smiled and tapped me on the head.

Margaret Thatcher stopped to ask how I was.

Feargal Sharkey, Had a chat and ciggie with him.

Sian Lloyd, the ITV Weather girl, took her to the toilet during the anti Iraq war demo in London.

Polly Styrene of X-Ray Specs was standing on my corner of my jacket so I couldn't get up to dance.

Tony Blair passed me in the corridor and tried to catch my eye but I just ignored him.

Floella Benjamin from Playschool and Playaway, I get to say hello to her quite frequently.

I met Hulk Hogan but I was asleep. Mom was carrying me out of a restaurant to the car and we ran into him. I was there at least.

Richard Thomas--John Boy from the Waltons--was sitting in front of me at a college theatre competition. He was the guest of honor. My stomach was gurgly from too much pizza and beer and he turned around and gave me a dirty look. I looked at the guy sitting next to me like it was his stomach that was gurgling.

Alex Chilton ("The Letter" song) pushed me down. :x I was walking into a club behind my very chatty friend and she stopped in the middle of the entryway to talk to someone. It was very narrow and I couldn't get by. He just shoved me to the side and blew right past me.

I met Robin Pecknold, Casey Wescott and the stand-up bass player/woodwind player whose name escapes me from the Fleet Foxes  a couple of years ago after they played here. They were extremely kind and patient, considering how long they'd been on tour and how tired they must've all been. Casey was especially friendly. :D

(I almost forgot--I used to see Mother Angelica on a daily basis at work before the nuns moved away  and John Cardinal O'Connor came by the network once, and Jim Caveizel, but I didn't want to stay late so I left before I got to meet him.)

Mostly musicians/people in bands. Friend of mine was seeing the editor of a heavy metal magazine at the time so he used to get us into gigs n stuff for free.
Lemmy from Motorhead was the most memorable

Asides from that...

Lorna Wing and Judith Gould (people who translated Hans Aspergers work into English and got the diagnosis into the DSM IV ICD 10 and the Triad of impairment concept)

John Bercow, Speaker of the house of commons. Helped him find his ride home after an autism conference he was speaking at a few years ago.

Baroness Emerton, went to see her at the house lords about people with AS working in the nursing profession. with some other nurses

Ray Mears, He was signing copies of his book at a presentation he did in Derby

If I actually turned up to my graduation ceremony at uni I'd of met Sean Bean

I've met many actors & actresses over the years, most encounters I'd rather not describe because they were so embarrasing.

Most actors & actresses that I have met were in Portland doing promotions for whatever they were involved with and the last encounters I had were about two years ago. I'm glad I haven't had any since.

I sold a bottle of Pepto Bismal to Howard K. Smith when I worked in a drugstore 20 years ago. If you dont know the name- some years before that he was a big long time TV anchor like Dan Rather- who competed with Walter Cronkite back in the day. He looked rather palid too when he bought it too.

Met other famous people while in retail.

I sold a bag of processed film to a sister of Aretha Franklin- she showed me some of the pics- her and her sister at the white house. Later learned that Aretha's sisters sang as her back up on many of her hit records. So the lady whom I meet is on tracks in my record collection herself.

A few a days ago I kinda 'met' another kinda 'celeb' .

Last week while online I stumbled upon a live video sex performer site. The lady performing was none other than Amy Fisher. She was not really 'in person' meeting with me- but she on this interactive website -with a small audience that happened to include me for a minute or two. And I couldve signed up for a private online session with her.

She was talking and responding to tweets- and boasted about being a professional porn star. I realized that OMG -that girl is THE amy fisher- I recognize her- now almost middle aged. She was that teen girl who seduced Joey Buttafucco, and then shot Joey Buttafucco's wife- that whole nasty tabloid scandal- the "Long Island Lolita". I could have a conversation with her right now- If I wanted too. But I clicked the red dot and left the site.

On a different note- years ago my sister the photographer got to do a function at the whitehouse and met the president. When she told me about it I was blase'. But then she mentioned in passing that she also got to meet David Attenborough ( the nature film guy on PBS shows) at this event.

Later she got to meet him again for the second part of this event- and she mentioned that "my brother yawned when I told him i met the president, but he got exciteted when I told him I meet YOU." Attenboro almost blushed -he was so flattered. And my sister delivered an autographed copy of David Attenboro's "Life On Earth" to me. Pretty cool.

I've met Temple Grandin. I got to hear her speak about a year ago. My whole family went because we have two people in the autism spectrum in my family. I really enjoyed it and would suggest it if anyone ever got the chance.

Which Bozo the Clown? Bozo was a character Larry Harmon, Bozo's creator, franchised in several TV markets. For example, the late Stu Kerr played Bozo on Baltimore's WMAR-TV for many years.
