Why does this remind me of a Seinfeld episode? They weren't cheap envelopes by any chance?

I don't have a problem in Australia but on the two occasions when I've licked in the UK, three years apart, I ended up with blisters all over my tongue.

Also, don't forget that in some countries envelopes are made in prisons. I wonder what they add to the mix? What could we be licking?

Bleh my sympathies. I seem to recall evelopes from when I was a kid that had a faintly sweet taste to them. Did I just run across some special envelopes or did they change the adhesive recipe?

The did! Before the 1980's "potatoe starch" was used. Now, they use cheap, horrid, killer chemicals. I shall never lick bill envelopes again! The bitter taste went away after 4 days AND during these four days, my ankles swelled up and my breasts "really" hurt. I'm better now but NEVER AGAIN! This was the first time it happened and the it's the last!

Stamps used to be licked and they tasted wonderful, when I was a kid. Somebody told me that they had banana oil in the mix.

I always lick my finger and rub it on the envelope.
