Do other Aspie women have these problems?
Today I shaved my legs and my crappy motor coordination means I've mangled my ankles with a razor in the process
Anyone else here injure themselves shaving? I'm so happy that I'm not a man cause then I'd have to shave my face and cutting my face would be really unpleasant and embarrassing.
Do other Aspie women have trouble keeping track of their periods? I can't really get the hang of knowing when mine is due.
I did work it out for a while once and I know that it is regular from that, but it's difficult to keep track.

Luckily, I have very weak and fair hair, so I can shave them once a two weeks, if I want to. But I often cut my ankles, I have some problems with feeling my legs - they are soooo long and far away from my head! - so ankles and feet are somewhat not mine.
I don't have problems with keeping track. I don't have painful symptoms and PMS, but I always know when is the time.

I could usually tell a day, or a few days ahead of time that I'm going to get my period, because that's when I start getting cramps. Also, someone once told me that sometimes periods correspond with phases of the moon, so at 1st I tried paying attention to the phases of the moon to tell if my period's due. It didn't work well, though, because the length of time between my periods tends to be irregular. Eventually, I just decided to mark P. on my calender on the 1st day of each period.
the first time I shaved my legs (I was 14) I just wanted to take off the hair on my ankles. I laid the old double edged style right on the tendon above the ankle bone and literally skinned it up about three inches long at a quarter of an inch wide. I bled unbelievably and couldn't tell my mom or anyone because I was forbidden to shave my legs at all.
long before the internet that could have helped me learn what to do with a wound there, I struggled through getting the bleeding to stop and still remember daubing make up over the scar for months so mom wouldn't ask me what it was. So don't feel to bad, Kajjie. I found waxing a much more practical solution to taming leg hair.

Yeah I'm trying to do the diary thing to keep track of periods, it's just remembering to do it and then remembering to calculate when the next one is from the marked dates.
sinsboldy - wow that must have been horrible! Did it hurt? The problem with cutting my ankles is the bleeding, really. It doesn't hurt just for some reason ankles seem to bleed a lot and bleeding is messsy. I'm considering the waxing but I'm not sure about it as it apparently takes longer and is painful.

I prefer not to shave, so I just use Nair regularly. It makes life easier, I've found, and I don't end up accidentally cutting myself. When I first started, I did use a razor blade, and my mother ended up getting me a bleeding stopper, so I guess I must have drawn a good deal of blood.
As for periods, I get mine so rarely that I don't try to keep track. I can usually feel it coming on a few days beforehand though, just because of the change in moods and how my body feels.

Cut myself shaving? No..fear of cutting myself shaving? yes, in a big way.
Keep track of my cycle? No...when it happens, it happens...and I keep menstruation paraphernalia in all my bags (work, gym, town) so I'm prepared. Bring on menopause!...and why on earth do all these women annoyances have to start with men? Menopause...menstruation...and when we have to get our she bits surgically removed it's a histerectomy (actually starting with hys)....pffft...

I don't shave my legs...the hair on them is really light and barely noticeable anyhow.
I also don't shave my armpits, because I think the hair exists there for a reason and I feel bald and awkward when I do occasionally shave it....I do not want to be a slave to my body hair, so I tend to leave it alone.
Keeping track of my menstrual cycles is easy...I have 2 menstrual cycles that happen back to back and take up half the month. The first one starts around the 12-15th...and I just barely spot for a while and then it stops only to be followed by a complete bloodbath of a period that continues till the end of the month.

Yes. I find the ankle is the most common spot (usually at least one cut on each ankle and often multiple cuts on one or both ankles) but that behind the knee is where I tend to do the worst damage (when I cut there it tends to be quite bad).
Yes. I have had flatmates who could keep better track of my periods than I ever could.
I have lived with other women and after a while we all noticed we were on our periods at the same time, one or two days give or take. Much later, I read how women that live in close proximity match their cycles. . .has something to do with smell. I used to think that was hooey until I stood in a check out lane with a very pregnant friend and the baby in the next line started crying and she gushed milk all down the front of her blouse! We are strange and wonderfully make creatures. ![]()
