Birthday/date ideas?

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and I want to do something special for her but we're both really eccentric... I have some ideas but I'm not sure what to go with. I was hoping I could get some ideas/suggestions from other women.(which is why I am posting this here instead of in L&D)

To start, she's a graffiti artist, she's heavy into 'reduce, reuse, recycle'(so she would appreciate art or a refurbished/thrift store thing more than a necklace from Tiffany's, not that I could afford that) actually, she doesn't wear jewelry, she's really really earthy and she volunteers at shelters a lot. I don't know how else to describe her, she's not big on fashion or trendy anything. Hmm.

My friend bought a building downtown that has a pretty awesome indoor pool in the basement which he has fixed up for parties etc. He offered to host a party for up to 20 people. I thought I would have a small party first with five or six of our friends. This is a blessing and I'm incredibly grateful he's going to do me this favor.

Gift ideas are difficult because we give each other stuff all of the time. I thought about doing some kind of charity thing in her name but I haven't looked into it yet.

Things we do for fun
• urban exploring
• climbing trees and hiking
• collaborate on artwork
• playground dates in the wee hours of the morning
• mixed CD trades
• pick a favorite book, highlight favorite passages, meet up and read the first chapter to one another and trade the books
• playing board games or putting puzzles together(we're hardcore like that)
• we go roller skating occasionally


I am not sure how to come up with anything that is actually special. I've already been working on some art for her. Maybe anything would do, and she might feel like it's special because it is just for her.

Any ideas?

your fun stuff sounds like perfect ideas for her birthday. i think you answered your own question!! ! a charity thing in her name sounds lovely, or plant a tree together.

How about making a custom board game (filled with cute little in-jokes, sweet nothings, memories, and art)?
