Mainstream porn sexualizes cruelty

I finally found a great short article on this topic, and wanted to raise it again.
One reason I care is because I have a four year old Aspie daughter. I doubt we'll have moved to Aspie planet by the time she's grown, and letting her grow up in a culture that thinks cruelty to women is sexy is just not acceptable.

If you are a man, ask this: When seeking a woman as a partner, would you advertise that you enjoy these images?

Why not?

I am not suggesting all men use pornography, or that all men who use pornography want material in which women are hurt and humiliated, or that all men who use pornography are bound to then want to hurt and humiliate women. I am simply saying that much of the pornography in the United States records scenes of women being hurt and humiliated; that men masturbate to orgasm to those images; and that those men are not deviants but are acting on the cultural norms that are widely taught. And I am suggesting that these facts should matter to us; they should scare us.

That is a gross fact of life I guess. If you still don't get it, watch HBO's tv show "Real Sex" especially the Takes segments where people are asked and commet on various things about sex. It's an earopenerand eyeopener.

Also another HBO show called "Taxicab Confessons" and a gay guy said about a sex act that's done in clubs and you need surgery to close the wound after it's done. That was so gross!

Some people even want Sex advertised like a KOA billboard on the highway! Pray and hope that doesn't happen. Well maybe in Boulder if it hasn't allready happened.

We've been "progressing" toward this for a long time. "Non-violent" pornography is only a shade less damaging, honestly. And the average prime time TV series is only a shade less ugly than that. I only hope and pray I can raise my child (and hypothetical future children) to respect the inherent dignity of their fellow human beings and to treat others with love.

It makes me glad i don't have any children to worry about.

Here's what you teach your daughter: Act like she is open minded, get the guy to admit his darkest thoughts and dump the ones who admit it. Teach her to be objective about dating and not emotional. She can let that happen after she actually gets to know them. It's either that or get her five brothers and move to a small town so they know everything about every guy who asks her out. That does effectively take care of those problems.

As to objectifying and abusing women, it's been around since "civilization" at least. Women were viewed as property and abused as such for thousands of years. Porn is just allowing those men to fantasize that it is still like that. That's it. It isn't mind control, it's already there. If you don't think that then you haven't been around when they talk to each other and think you can't hear. That is the true wake up call. Just do that a few times and all of your illusions will be gone for good.
