Being in your 20s and not having had a relationship yet could be very very stressful. It's possible that by your 30s you'd get so bored by the whole thing that you'd stop caring.

But also, as the wise Brother John (Gray, of Mars/Venus fame) once said, paraphrasing Shakespeare or someone: some people are walkers, slow and steady; some are runners, fast out of the gate; and some are jumpers, going nowhere for the longest time, then all of a sudden making a great leap to a higher level. I think the original quotation was about being born to greatness versus having it thrust upon them or something like that. His version makes me think of tortoises, hares, and frogs. Gribbit!

At least you're not expected to turn into some psychotic serial killer... usually.

Well perhaps you could save me some room on your acreage for another shack. Perhaps somewhere in the foothills.

worms, mm I don't know. I'm a small acreage newbie so I only stumble my way through the 'rural' stuff. The neighbours trap and eat them.

I will never marry, but I do have 2 male companions....so I guess I can't be an "old Maid"..if "maid" means "maiden"...is it "not being married" thing that makes one a "spinster?" I assume the guys will stick around till they find someone better or until I am no longer attractive to them...Then I will be old, unattractive and single, never having been married.

Poopylungstuffing, what is the difference between a maid and a maiden? (I don't know because English isn't my first language).

MissConstrue: I'm 31 and have never had a boyfriend or been married. I don't think it matters. But it's not like I reject the idea as such, I just don't long for it, or for having kids. Not sure if I'm able to fall in love, really. But again, it doesn't matter.

Maybe I'm an old maid or spinster, or maybe not, as I don't think I'm old. :D
In Denmark, we call girls who aren't married at age 30, "pepper maids".
So I'm a happy pepper maid I think. :D
