I just remembered.
When I was little, 3-6, somewhere in that range, I used to listen to casette tapes over and over and over again, a LOT.
I could forget about everything around me when I listened to them, and I also did know many of them by heart and used part of them as scripts.
That must have been my first special interest.

I don't really have any special interest now that my OCD is treated. Before that I was obsessed with my 1st & 2nd girlfriend & was obsessed with getting in a relationship when I was single. I was also pretty obsessed with pron even thou I didn't really enjoy it a whole lot(I was obsessed with DLing it & organizing it)

Thanks to a forum friend it's currently Lord of the Rings Online. I have two characters, a Hobbit and Elf I'm consumed with developing.

Outside of that, forums, reading, photography, exploring, art, crafting, history and biographies.

I'm guessing that special interests and obsessions are relatively the same thing? In any case here are a few special interests.

Past:
Airplane models, the ones you stick decals on, not paint. And those around 1:24 scale because that's all I could afford.
Perpetual motion machines
Poetry
Luthiery
Foreign films
Animation & modeling software like 3DS Max, Rhino, etc.

Current:
Cubase, music sequencing software and anything related to that like keyboards, VSTi's, digital effects, etc.
Guitars
Jainism
Autism
Torture, punishment & executions through the ages. This interest in researching violence is probably an obsession because the sheer acquisition of knowledge about it, and anything related to it, occupies my time day and night.

When you say special interests, I assume you mean things I am really interested in, that I know a lot about, that I really like to talk/read about for hours, that typically have little to no meaning or relevance to other people... and cause problems for me when I try to socialize.

Past:
Dinosaurs
Insects (specifically beetles)
Types of teeth structures
clocks, gears, machinery, etc.
Word etymologies

Current:
Types of leather (most current)
bass guitars
Word etymologies
Mars
Anglo-Saxons
Fungi

Model railroading - HO scale. My nephew and my grandson think that's cool, so I have someone to share my interest with. :D

Becoming a better human being. In every aspect imaginable.

Other than that it's computers (games, youtube, music) and cars. Love driving.
