Neurodiversity and malocclusion?
Long I wondered about the name for this thread, and this seemed the most appropriate.
I wonder about the relationship ADHD, Asperger syndrome and other psychological disorders and malocclusion.
For example, my friend from childhood had ADHD, but also a large gap between their teeth, now I found out that it is technically called, diastema
I also found that people with intellectual disabilities, with reduced IQ often have a lot of defects dentition.
I have Asperger Syndrome and normal IQ, even slightly higher than the average population
But even I have a slight defect teeth, I have a slightly shorter jaw, you can not see with the naked eye, but I had a problem with the wisdom teeth, I had a problem with the eruption of teeth, they have so far been two wisdom teeth, and both had to be surgically removed
I wonder does is any correlation between Autism and dental problems?
Nope....I don't think so.
I would say, conservatively, that half the population (of the US) has some form of malocclusion in need of correction (e.g.., braces).
My brother is as NT as they come; he grew up with severe malocclusion; unfortunately, my parents couldn't afford to get braces for him like they did for me.
Malocclusion is just about as common as cavities.

I agree with Kraftie on this one. I certainly have Asperger's but have very good teeth, never needed braces. Only dental problem I have is a bit of gum disease.
