Depending upon the social scenario, I can sometimes come across as normal while at other times can be seen as, intensely eccentric and odd..Personally, I suppose many of a perception has some sense of truth to it but, to go merely by perception alone spells a great amount of inaccuracy on one's part therefore, it's better to fully understand someone as best as possible before marking someone as this or that..

Since being diagnosed with AS, I've made an effort to watch NTs in social situations and note what they talk about, how they start and finish conversations and how they make each other laugh. Don't worry, I've done that in a non-scary way. Standing over a group of fellow students while staring intently while saying absolutely nothing is a little bit weird, so I usually monitor my 'friends.' Garnering tips on how they manage conversations while trying to be part of said conversation isn't easy, so I feel like I've made little to no progress. Still, at least I have people who I could call friends, which is an improvement on 2 years ago. :)

Pfffft. As if anyone else's thoughts are miraculously more interesting... It's all relative. ;)

Ditto - it's easy for me to do surreptitiously, since I work at a gym. In a nutshell: the convos are almost always superficial, facile, and boring. I have to fight for the patience to engage in that sort of trite crap. MEH.

Eyebrows can be fascinating, though. I'm kind of obsessed with certain types of brows, as well as with nose bridges and the area where the brow and bridge areas connect. Some are stunning, some hideous. :)

I do a good impression of an NT. I had kept it up at work for several years until my work situation changed and started to demand the empathy and social skills that I lack.

I never had any desire to pretend to be something I'm not. Of course I know how not to create a scene in public but I can't pretend to care about what kind of car someone is driving (special interest excepted) or even more who got kicked off the island last night. I need diversity and substance and you know; it's actually hard work to talk about nothing. Hanging out with family is different.

Exactly. Being "normal" sounds insufferable.

Where's that vomiting smiley when you need it?

HAHA! YES! One of my "perfect males" is Chris Cornell, circa 1990, or thereabouts (imho, of course). Beautiful brows/bridge combo; perfect nose. Just one of my myriad of male obsessions. ;)
