I don't hate NT's. I just think a lot are misinformed about autistic spectrum disorders. That and I just graduated high school a few months ago so I often have to put up with the immaturity of people around my age. There are a lot of good NT's out there (like my family). I am a believer that there is more good than evil in the world. Sometimes it seems that there is a lot of bad because the bad is usually more noticable.

Yeah, I think NT bashing isn't the best thing to do on this forum. I mean, you can complain about neurotypicals all you want to, but at the end of the day, it only makes it the more obvious that YOU are different from everyone else and kills you even further inside.

Aye, Aye! I am also getting tired of their bashing. My mother and sister are NTs!

Given that we are in quite a small minority, it would seem like somewhat of a mild generalization (sarcasm) to think badly of ALL NTs.

George Bush's existence does not make ALL/most Americans ...........(fill in whatever you think of George Bush)

Anyone can be an a**h*le, regardless of their label.

I have read some postings on WP from those 'on the spectrum' that I find unpleasant.

I think the most offensive posts here (for me) are those that berate Aspies with the more severe social impairment; usually by those who claim to be able to get along more of less reasonably well with NTs

I think you make a good point but I suspect your comments apply to the minority on WP :?:

That said, I am a very recent arrival at WP so I may be wrong.

But yes, let's build bridges instead of walls...............

TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

"One is Bad- It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good -It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I really like that story

Writer Spider Robinson once divided people into two basic groups - One Of The Nice Ones (OOTNOs), and Not One Of The Nice Ones (NOOTNOs). He said that the basis of conflict is the ongoing struggle between OOTNOs and NOOTNOs, and that those of us on the OOTNO side have two basic advantages - there are more of us, and when we try, we can cooperate (while the NOOTNO way of being is basically antithetical to cooperation).

The Stardance Trilogy can basically be seen as an extension of that struggle into the near future, and involving aliens who want to help us become more than we are. It's made quite blatant in the last novel, Starseed, when the NOOTNO organization begins moving openly against the Stardancers, while stumbling over its members' individual power plays...

Here in real life, I've found that OOTNOs and NOOTNOs can be found on either side of our neurological fence. My wife and cohusband are NTs - and quite definitely OOTNOs. And I'm sure we all know one or two people (not necessarily on WP, but I'm sure we've all met one or two) who are on the spectrum, but are still NOOTNOs. The trick is knowing which people are of which group, and not painting NTs with too broad a brush (or AS - we're not all saints, by any means! :) ).

I like this way of looking at people, I think it makes far more sense than many other divisions.

Yeah, nice and "black and white"; Rorschach style, that's the way to do it.

I understand not all NTs are bad, but those who are tend to go after the easiest target, which is frequently someone with AS. For some of us, such as me, most of my experiences with NTs have been horrible.

I find that 'bad people' always go after the easiest target, regardless of whether or not they are NT.

I had a miserable time at school, but the 'bullying' wasn't physical.

It could have been much worse.

Instead of just being 'strange' I could have had a differnt skin colour (I didn't), a different religion (I didn't) been from a different 'ethnic group' (I'm not) or......had a 'foreign' accent...

The fate of the people listed in the last sentence has been grotesque since history began and continues to this day.

I figure that for some/most of us, our worst day pales into insignificance compared to them and remember...............

statistically they would have been almost entirely NT

I have to agree with you and especially the point "It makes you like them".

There's no "we" or "them", just us.

Let all human beings get along, we are all one in this cosmic universe = )

I came to know that kind of feeling as "typical" after learning many other people felt the same way. Being "typical", however, does not remove uniqueness. No two people on earth are identical in every way.
