I'm self employed, when work comes my way.

I work between three and five days a week.

Does part-time on an infrequent "as needed" basis count as a "yes" ?

Self employed but underemployed video editor here.

Over the past decade.... i've worked on and off for a family friend as a salesperson in his small retail business.

I haven't worked anywhere else for over 10 years and i'm 40 now.

I am the textbook definition of a loser.


All this courtesy of whatever the hell my neurological deficits ultimately are and all the learning, memory, motor, socio-emotional, executive functioning, etc....problems that have come with them.

am totally worthless when it comes to being employable.

Unless the employer totally wood put up with
my disability, I cannot seem to work for anyone
but myself. No one ever hires me anyway so
I make my own job, I don't get rich doing it
but at least I make some money and give myself
something to do all day.

I have two part-time jobs in the same shopping centre, in different shops.

I work at one shop two mornings a week and whenever else the boss needs me.
I work at the other shop three afternoons a week and some Saturdays.

I think I'd go insane if I had to do a customer service type job, full-time because I get very tired from having to pretend I'm interested in the customers and smiling all the time and still being nice to the many grumpy, rude people around here. I must be good at it though, because my second employer poached me from the first one, and then, another employer in the same shopping centre wanted me as well.

I hate customer service, but I have to support my 13 year old son on my own. He's gifted, and I don't want him going down the same road as I did.

Full-time employed......but it hurts like hell.

For the record, I am undiagnosed (and probably subclinical at this point).

I work a 40-hour a week job for corporate America. And I actually enjoy it. Most people (regardless of their neurology) can't say that, so I consider myself to be very fortunate. That said, I'm kind of the oddball at work, even for an IT division. I imagine one of the reasons I feel "at home" is that IT in general seems to be filled with subclinical / clinical autistics.

I did have an extreme "blow-up" with my previous employer that I am not proud of. I have a tendency to tell things the way I see them, and I've learned that management doesn't particularly like to hear why you think fundamental business procedures are completely backwards and nonsensical.
