Temper Tantrums Due To Noise?
I went to Pathmark with my father and some mother had her child SCREAMING and CRYING. Which is my pet peeve, and when I hear screams I usually blast my iPod and saw a few angry words under my breath. Well is happened again in Costco, some mother let her kid SCREAM and this time I stomped out of the store angry and the whole store stared at me. Well looks like I'll wind on welfare because no one's going to hire a 'child hater'! !!
When ever a child screams or baby cries I often run away, it's so bad that I avoid elevators so I'm not stuck with them and I avoid going out too.
I can never go out with friends or family, because every time I do a child screams or baby cries and BAM!! ! Everyone starts saying how weird and mean I am, some even said my mother should of had an abortion. My life is pretty much garbage, don't worry I'm a virgin and I plan on keeping it FOREVER!! ! So NO KIDS for me!! !
Well anyway after that ranting, do any of you guys have freak out when you hear uncomfortable noise?

That's not a temper tantrum. It sounds to me like you are having sensory meltdowns. Sensory issues like that are common in people with ASD's.
Sound always drives me nuts. be it music or a kid cryng and the kid's mom wont shut him up. It used to be so bad I would have a melt down. Now I can handle it but I Still get mad at the moms(never see it with dads)Keep using your music and thinking happy thoughts. As for your friends tell them "I dont do loud" or if you can handle loud sounds but crying tell them "I dond handle ctying kids that well" and then leave.

I have an aversion to just about any loud noise. Made to put up with a loud noise long enough and I will snap.
I have a 4-year old niece and all she does is talk. Doesn't matter when or where. She just talks constantly. After about 2 or 3 minutes I'm telling her to stop talking. When she talks over someone else talking, she gets a 'shut up'. If she continues, either I have to leave or she does.

I work with kids with autism and the irony of this discussion is that many of them are doing the screaming particularly in supermarkets and shops maybe due to the sensory overload of sights/smells and sounds.
Just as you are struggling with their noise, they are struggling with their own sensory issues. I'm sure the parents feel bad and embarrassed when their kids scream and would stop them if they could.
I'm not implying that all kids who scream are autistic, but some may be.
I know how you feel. I have 2 sugestions
1) Bring 32decibel earplugs wth you wherever you go. Pop them in if there is a crying child
2) Go outside, find somewhere peaceful- anywhere.
Yes I have had tantrums. The best way to prevent them is to get away from the noise altogether. Also look into if any sound therapy might help.

I never knew why loud noises would get me so angry for no reason, one day I started doing research on why that would happen. Imagine my surprise when all links seemed to end at aspergers sites. That was actually my first step in discovering I had it.

Diagnosed aspie with an NT alter-ego.
Study was done monitoring the gazes of a group of toddlers, ASD, developmentally delayed but not ASD and NT.
ASD toddlers almost ignored the upside down cartoon which attracted the attention of the other two groups, but spent most of their time watching the cartoon who's sound synced to motion.
Eventually the high and mighty scientist may get that having a preference to sound stimuli, particularly if its linked to movement, is just a difference, one probably pretty advantageous if you aren't stuck in the city amongst oh so wonderful NT culture and society....
That's why sound freaks you but not most others (in appearance anyway), we're keyed to sound not visual.
Earplugs = win

That's why I don't complain about kids crying because they could be autistic. When people complain about screaming kids on planes, in supermarkets, etc I tell them that they could be autistic so they should watch what they say. Usually they blame it on the parents or call the kids brats.
I've had my share of public meltdowns, even as an adult. So who I am to get angry at others that may be having one?

I hate noises myself. One of the many rezones why I generally don't go many places. I can tolerate the kids when I'm around em but I cant handle when their mom, grandma or whatever stats screaming at the kids for something. The parents make more noise yelling at the kids to be quiet than the kids wer making & when I storm off; people act like I'm crazy when I'm the smart one who's getting away from the noise instead of causing the noise to get worse ![]()
Yes. I can't listen to certian music without vomiting and can't smell or concentrate when music is playing. I hate children for a variety of reasons and one of them is the fact they can't be quiet and have horrible voices. People don't understand how sensetive my hearing is. Sometimes I wish I was deaf.
