Like, I'm playing with my python right now, and just want to $%#^$^$%SQUEEZE! him!
Why do people get those impulses with cute things? It would only cause harm to squeeze and squeal and bite something cute. :S

Supposedly because things like chihuahuas and teddy bears have big eyes which subconciously reminds them of human infants. I don't know because I personaly find human infants and children repulsive but find things like lizards and insects adorable. Perhaps you really just want to give your snake a hug.

I have the same views as you on humans and reptilians.

But I mean, why do people want to squeeze them hard? That should hurt them.

You probably really just want to hug them.

Yeah but it's not the same!
A hug is nice, but not like when old ladies are like "You're so cute I will eat you!" Or when you want to squeeze it until it pops. XD

I have only been squeezed hard a few times, and did not sustain any serious injuries.

Accidentally sitting on little critters is more harmful than most squeezes, I think.

I want to do some hard squeezing right now, with all this talk of squeezes, but have nothing to squeeze, at hand.

I guess they're using faulty logic, thinking that if an ordinary hug is nice, then to be crushed to death or consumed must be nicer. But I'm sure most of them are just being metaphorical, snd would never carry out their threats.

Must confess to delivering a few bone-cracking hugs myself. I just get carried away. My sister used to hug flowers when she was a little girl. Mostly the flowers did not survive.

So that their eyes pop out?

I think hugs release endorphins or something. Maybe it's hard wired into us.

I'm curious about something. Do those of you who have snakes and reptiles, are they affectionate? Do they know you? I'm curious because those animals don't have Limbic systems, right? I've always been curious about this.

I wouldn't dare to squeeze a python in case it began to squeeze me back . . . 8O

As for wanting to hug cute things, I want to do that to show them that I want to protect and look after them - when I pick up my cats and hug them, that's what I mean to say, wordlessly.

Beats me, I don't feel like this at all.

Well, Aimless, they aren't affectionate, but they do know their owners.
My python is comfortable around me, and people he knows. And during any situation where I am showing him to people, when he gets nervous he starts crawling back to me.
They don't love you back, but maybe I kind of like that, the distance. :P I love hugging my python, he's strong enough to give some moderate squeezations to for a reptile. :P

How do you hug a flower? :S

I am just as stumped as you. I hate being bear-hugged, it's like my head is going to pop. hehe
