I love to hug furry things. That's why I love long haired cats. My cat isn't a long hair, but I love to stroke her, I kind of 'bury' my hand in her fur and I just love to pick her up, and hold her close to my face and kiss her, especially where her fur is densest, like her back. I also like dogs, horses and cows. Only thing is most of them are too big to hold in your arms.lol

I'm curious about something. Do those of you who have snakes and reptiles, are they affectionate? Do they know you? I'm curious because those animals don't have Limbic systems, right? I've always been curious about this.

My bearded dragon is affectionate and I've heard reports from other bearded dragon owners that there's are too. They just show it diffrently and aren't in your face like a dog is. Perhaps that's why I like them so much. I don't think love is something that can be measured scientifically.

I often the impulse to bite things. My chihuahua, babies cheeks and my partners scalp 8O . I have no idea why, it just is. I do refrain though, for despite the fact that I do not want to hurt things, I inevitably cannot control how hard I bite.

I do too. :P I've bitten my snake lightly before. XD It feels cute. :P I think because you're nerves are a lot more sensitive around your mouth.

Your beardie is affectionate? Mine isn't! He's quite skittish. He is fun to feed and watch take a bath, though. He really loves baths, and likes to splash water on his back. :)

Blech, I agree.
I used to lick my cats when I was little, because I liked giving them baths. XD

Yes she is but then she was handled religiously since she was a baby. She hates baths. She swims to the edge of the tub and franticaly kicks her legs. It's like she is treading water. If I put my hand or foot in with her she will desperetly cling to it. She looks so cute all bundled up in a towel with her little face peering out. She perfers to play tag with me or something like it. I set her down on the floor and try to pick her up she will run away. At first I thought maybe she thought she was going ot go back in her cage but now I wonder if she thinks it's a game. The only time I've seen her beard was when my mom had these dark sunglasses on. Pippin lunged at her. I think she thought she was trying to protect me. So don't tell me reptiles aren't capable of emotion.

I don't handle mine too often, I'm sure that's why. I prefer feeding him and observing him.
I agree about the being cute with their head sticking out! Like a cute little burrito. :P
XD When mine runs away it's cause he likes being outside. I usually let him onto the sunny porch when I take him out.
I don't think your lizard was protecting you, it was probably being defensive of itself. I do believe they have emotion, not sure just how developed it is, though.

My snake? Or my beardie?
I didn't hurt neither. I've never been able to have a tame lizard, but all my snakes are exceptionally tame. My ball python will let you hold his neck and inspect his face without a fuss. He's really gentle. Most balls are really nervous when it comes to touching their heads.

I wish my parents would let my have a snake but my dad has a phobia of them (I used to be afraid he'd hurt Pippin while I was sleeping) and my mom thinks they are not friendly.

I'm sorry. The snake prejudice is a shame. I would love to spread the snakey love some day. :D

I'm begning to believe that reptile fear is a learned cultural feal not an instintial fear becuase a LOT hispanic ladies react to Pippin (my bearded dragon) just like how American NT women react to human infants. Back in Ohio almost everyone was afraid of Pippin but here in Texas even white women are like, "Oh how cute!" when they see Pippin. She reminds them of a horned lizard or a "horny toad" I hear. I used to think my afinity for snakes and lizards was a result of my AS and just another example of how I was a freak. I orginaly was more fond of snakes but this is what started a special intrest in lizards. I thought he was cute. I soon wanted a lizard of my own but I knew my mom would claim they were not friendly so I looked up friendly lizards and got a bunch of results for bearded dragons and I was sure my mom couldn't protest. Eventually she caved in and convinced my dad he did not have to touch it or anything so they let me get Pippin.
