My dad makes me laugh more than anyone i know. We have a similar sence of humor. But at movies or while watching television, i never laugh. Here's an example. I think the movie Anchorman is hilarious, and i quote it all the time, but the first time I watched the movie I think I laughed once. Is this an aspie thing?

I laugh at everything and anything.

I don't even think comedy movies are funny, nevermind being able to laugh at them.

You have a sense of humor, but don't laugh often?

Maybe it's because the outward expression to others that you find something funny (laughter) just doesn't come naturally to you. Now that i think about it... I usually wont LOL at a funny movie I'm watching alone; but I will if someone else is there.

I'm the same way. What's in my head rarely reaches my face. I can find something very funny and show no reaction.

Yeah, I find many things extremely funny but don't laugh at them. It seems odd to me when people accuse me of not laughing a lot - I'm laughing all the time at funny stuff! Just not out loud unless it's hysterically funny.

I don't think I've ever laughed at TV in my life. My Dad, my friend and I have a similar sense of quite intellectual humour. But no-one else seems to share it. I once saw stand-up comedy and everyone was laughing so hard, while I was sitting there thinking "I don't understand what is so funny about this".

I don't laugh much either, even at things I consider very funny. I giggle or chuckle mostly. Laughing is mostly a phase when I get too tired and overstimulated, then I tend to laugh like crazy about something that nobody finds funny. And I don't really feel any happier after laughing episodes like that, just out of breath. :)

Maybe your funny bone isn't functioning as intended. Maybe a transplant is in order. Have you ever played Operation? Then you might have enough insight into the procedure to perform it yourself.

If that doesn't make you laugh, then I'm probably right.

Might it be a manifestation of anhedonia?

(I don't really recommend performing surgery on yourself)

lol-ing is somewhat of a social... thing. conveying understanding of the humour and some kind of 'desire to share' it. in fudo's opinion
if you still enjoy humour then i'd say there's not much of a problem.
personally i lol alone as well as in groups, or did when i was with a group, but then i find almost anything funny or 'see the funny side'.

While sometimes people do laugh out of a desire to be social, I find the best laughs are always an involuntary reaction.

oh yea the unstoppable involuntary laughs are great fun, i meant people kinda 'semi-consciously'/subconsciously laugh socially, similar to how laughter seems contagious, sometimes.
