There was a news article recently about an AS family in my province...the mom, dad, and 11 year old daughter all had AS.

Backstory: diagnosed with borderline,"tentative" Aspergers at 7, but don't fit the criteria now (according to my longtime psychiatrist). I self-identify as having ASD traits rather than the whole diagnosis.

Mostly keeping a distance from ASD-related things (including WP) but I'll always be interested in it despite the recent separation of it from my identity.

Why not?

AD(H)D families are common. Half of mine seems to be too, different forms and severities of AD(H)D, neatly passed onto the children.

I know parents with AS who passed down their AS to their children in varying degrees even though the other parents is not on the spectrum.

I know several families and a parent who seems to have passed down the reason for their below average IQs and/or cognitive delays onto their children too.

BL personality disorder parents having passed down a collection of impairing traits akin to that of BL to their child (way too young to consider BL yet).

If two people with autism decide to have children, there is an even bigger chance their child will be on the spectrum.

My Father, Sister and my Brother has ADHD. While I have Autism (PDD-NOS with Traits of Aspergers). Also my mother has Fibromyalgia and Hypoglycemia.

Absolutely. My children have been diagnosed with ASD (daguhter), ASD + ADHD (youngest son). My oldest son is undiagnosed, but obviously is ASD + ADHD as well. My parents both have considerable traits, just as my wife's parents. In fact, I don't feel that anybody in the closest family is neurotypical.

So, I've heard that if your mom or dad has AS, you're more likely to have it. Also, AS children are more likely to have siblings with AS. Is it possible to live in a family where the mom, the dad, and all the children have AS?

Yes. Here is a family of 5 all with Asperger's.

I have AS, my eldest daughter has AS, my youngest daughter has HFA. My husband is NT. Clearly I have strong genetics. :?

I think it is fairly possible for families to be on the spectrum. A common theme is for a child to be diagnosed first, then one of the parents realises that their child's behaviour is reminiscent of their own behavior at the same age. They go for an assessment as well, and voila - suddenly there are two people with ASD in the family.

This is my story,, my son has PDD-NOS...after looking him I saw it in myself.. then released my dad for sure was aspie,,,my mom may have,, and all my biological relatives on my dads side.. so, yes it is quite possible..Ive worked with many autistic students who had siblings on the spectrum,, i dint know the parents but id wager at least one was.

Yes it is very possible. I have seen it online and there was an article about it too. I don't know where to find that article but it was posted online not too long ago. The parents had it and so did all their three kids. There were no NTs in the family.
