I don't get anything about Autism.

One thing is, how come some of us are stubborn, yet we let people treat us like s**t? :?:

Another thing is, what would happen if an Autistic person became really really obsessed with socialising? Would they be good at it, since Autistics and Aspies like to get right into our special interests and learn and know everything about it and try to become experts at this one thing?

Not being able to do something is not stubbornness. I've been called stubborn all my life, but only when some stupid NT wants me to do something I can't do, and it seems simple and easy to them, so they assume I'm refusing just to be a d*ck.

I don't quite understand why stimming has such a good effect on the autistic mind. Overload, I understand. But why stimming?

I think practical knowledge (skills) is different from theoretical knowledge.

How the heck to functional levels apply? Seems we all rise to our level of least effectiveness.

Didn't you already post a thread like this called "List an aspie thing you don't understand?" or was that someone else?

I don't understand why it's so difficult and expensive to get a mental health diagnosis (for me that would be related to the possible existence of an ASD). It really is a shame that we have so little regard and capacity for handling such things, given that they probably pose the greatest impact on economic productivity, crime rates and general enjoyment of life for everyone.

(sorry, a little bitterness slipped out)

The sensory issues. What function could they possibly serve either than making one feel like a pile of angry crap.

I don't understand the nature of special interests. I don't understand why our special interests "choose" us instead of the other way around, or why they stay or leave when we don't want them to. It's almost as if they have a mind of their own.

Knowledge is knowing the "what." Understanding is knowing the "why."

I know quite a bit about autism. I understand very little.

No problem with the bitterness, I could have said those two things myself. What I'm hearing a lot of lately is "do you think you're the only one with problems". That is not in regard to any ASD complaint, it is directed at our struggles financially, despite the fact that I'm not really complaining about the abyss into which we just fell.

If Autism is about social difficulties, then why does it also include everything else, making life more of a strain than what it already is? If it was just the social difficulty part we just had, life wouldn't be as hard as what it is with having extra major problems like sensory issues, anxieties, disliking change, obsessions, memory issues, meltdowns, emotional issues, and prone to at least one other separate disorder on top of it like OCD, ADHD, ADD, Dyspraxia, high anxiety disorders, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Agoraphobia, and lots of others what I can't think of. What's the need for all these extra disorders? Why can't Autism just be some social difficulties, and not all these added to it? What's sensory issues got to do with social issues? And why the meltdowns? Why anxieties? Then there's all the stuff like stimming, facial blindness, object blindness, giving off vibes, unconfidence, ''wrong'' gestures, ect. Where do the symptoms ever end? Ohh, this is why I hate Autism so much!
