Are all Aspie's affectionate?

Hi Aspie's

Hope this don't sound stupid..

What i would like to know though is are most of you Aspie's out there quite affectionate or not when it comes to the opposite sex being around each other and whether it is an Aspie thing or not?

As I've come to realize over the years that i can be very affectionate and cuddly around girls i feel comfortable around and close too, is this part of my aspergers or is it just the fact im a cuddly affectionate person =/

Any comments back would be appreciated!

I don't know if it's common or not but I'm the same as you in this respect. In fact, when I get to know a girl better and fall in love with her, the emotional bonds seem to disrupt me sometimes, they are so strong. I'm also very cuddly. I used to think I'm an overgrown child or teen.

I'm rarely affectionate. I used to think I was but my husband says I am not. Even my ex's struggled with that too about me. I mean how many times do I need to hug them and cuddle them and hang onto them for it to be considered affectionate? It feels like it's all day long and that is so needy.

The answer to this and questions similar like it, is:
-Some are, some are not.

It's not a stupid question per-se, it's just an annoying question when the answer is obvious - we are all individuals. Just because we share the same diagnosis, does not make us copies of one another.

Some aspies are high functioning, some are low functioning.
Some aspies can get facial cues very well, some cannot.
Some aspies like socialising, some prefer solitude.
Some aspies like asian food, some like mexican food.
Some aspies are left-handed, some are right-handed.
(and so on)

Highly affectionate and empathic with animals, especially my beloved cats, but not at all with humans.
Hate being touched and am not interested in emotional bonds with humans. Cuddling and such only if the sex has been really great. But even then, there's no need for it.

Some are yes, and I'm basing that on posts on other forums from users with Asperger's who say they are, but I think for the most part, no. My tendency is to say that adult males generally are not. I know I am not so much, and the one son I have who is most Aspie, is definitely not. Though out of my two other Aspie sons, one can be sometimes, to the point of it being kind of aggravating. He is 15 now. My youngest is extremely affectionate, but he's only 12, and acts very child-like almost all of the time. I have a feeling both will outgrow it and become more like their non-affectionate brother, but only time will tell. I was when I was fairly young still, but had pretty much stopped being so, to the point of being nearly totally non-affectionate, by the time I was sixteen.

My wife, who is also somewhat Aspie, but not yet diagnosed, tends to be less affectionate than most women I've known.

So far, the only people I've spoken with that are Aspies, who do claim to be overly affectionate, have been women on forums. I've not yet spoken to any Aspie men who claim to be.

Until now...

This is all only from my own observations, but clearly the answer is "No," not ALL Aspies are affectionate. Far from it in fact. Most, I think, are not.

I am not affectionate in the least.

Nah. You were lucky to get the suggestion. Even THAT is out of character for me, even as a joke.

i do not tend to be affectionate though i like to be near those i am comfortable with. I do not really like to be touched much.

I am extra snuggly. It annoys my wife a lot of the time.

That would be the biggest downside of being single... never ever being snuggled by anything larger than a housecat.

I imagine if I had the opportunity I would be.

I think my cold heart is being thawed by girls demanding hugs from me and I've been growing more affectionate over time. I like snuggling animals more than people.

I thought we were known for not being affectionate.
