The places I've contacted have failed to direct me to someone who could run an assessment. Apparently these specialists are hard to come by and cost a fortune, is that true? I'm also looking to do an intelligence test, mostly to find out if I have non-verbal learning disorder issues/ dyspraxia instead of Aspergers. I'm also interested to see where I rank in terms of IQ, even though I realize the general faultiness with IQ tests.

Should I go to my GP and get a referral to a psychiatrist and endure the long waiting list? Is there anything else I can do? The psychologist I see from time to time doesn't do assessments, and all he would say is that I seem to maybe have some Aspergers traits - but he wouldn't elaborate more than that.

I hope you'll be able to find the coverage to pay for an assessment or that you can find a place around your area that you can get it done for cheap or free.

I've found something but I'm not sure whether it would be much of a help for you.

Look up Redpath Centre.

I have no idea where to get funding, though. It's a major issue everywhere.

Honest if you're in North America and over 20 there are no services -testing or otherwise. It's more about who you know.

Ugh, this is frustrating. I tried the Red Path Centre with no luck; they only assess children. The more I read on this forum the more I'm realizing that I must have this. It would explain so much. I just want to know for sure though.

That is strange because I know of older adults who have gotten their diagnosis there.
