Little things you notice that others may not?
I thought it would be nice to share things that we all notice, that others may not.
We might find some simmilarities!
so, I'll go first.
I always seem to notice when keys on a computer keyboard are worn down and smooth. It seems odd, I don't know if it's particularly a normal thing, but I thought I'd share it...

If there's a TV on that's muted and with no picture displayed, I can still "hear" it. I remember being in classrooms in high school where this happened and not a single other person in the class could hear it but when I pointed it out they discovered that the TV in question was indeed on.
Me too! It makes an annoying high-pitched humming sound.
Me too!! I used to sleep in the same bedroom with my father and he would get insane, I couldn't sleep with the TV on mute.
Edit: I like how you said "with no picture displayed", like it's understood that everyone knows that white has a louder sound than dark colours.....I don't think NTs notice this. White is loud. I think it's comes from the huge electron bombing on the screen or something lol.
^ This. I used to be able to hear my neighbor's TV from next door. Not the volume of the shows, just the cathode ray tube.
Flat screen plasma TVs are a godsend.

Funny thing is I thought everyone did until I came here.
Funny thing # 2 is I don't have AS.
By golly is there some overlap between ASD's and ADHD's?
I keep rreading that there this nothing between them.
I can hear muted TVs too. I used to think everyone could hear them until I started asking. I was the only one who could hear it at my grandparent's house when they had it on. They had it on mute and it was turned to a game and the high pitch sound bothered my ears because it was so loud and no one could hear it. My cousin was the only one who knew what I may be talking about and told me she has heard them sometimes as a kid. It was just a pain to deal with and to ignore and even being out in the living room i could still hear it since it the TV was right next to the room and the living room was open t the dining room to the family room to the kitchen. I have noticed that it seems like half of everyone can hear it and half of everyone can't and someone said it's because it's at the edge of the normal hearing range. Even one of my brothers has heard it too once time when I as a kid because he went in his bedroom and turned off the TV.
Another time I was at my parents lake house and I heard this one sound and I don't know what pitch it was but I could hear it and no one else couldn't. Even in the summer at my parents house I can hear crickets inside with the windows open and no one else can hear them because I one time made a comment about it and my mother didn't know what I was talking about so she asked one of my brother's if he can hear them and he said no.
I can hear TVs, lamps or most any electrical device. I thought that was normal.
I notice things like pictures hanging slightly crooked or building construction being out of square. I have a hard time accepting that things on this planet do not line up at precise angles.

I had an enormous attention to detail through all senses as a child.
I used to be able to hear electrical devices too, as well as subtle motors, fans, and heating generators...even when other noises were present. My mind used to process these things on different kinds of channels or streams, in that each noise was equally demanding my attention...so I had a hard time focusing on anything, especially when people were talking to me...I just couldn't figure out what was relevant.
I no longer have these processing issues, but the fact that I experienced this makes me wonder if other people on the spectrum have, or have had these specific issues as well.

Mostly keeping a distance from ASD-related things (including WP) but I'll always be interested in it despite the recent separation of it from my identity.

The same here. I can always hear CRTs and lamps with transformers. Drives me crazy.
Same thing on things lining up or being square. I always have my level and a tape measure handy so I can "fix" things.

I tend to notice the two dark brown rectangles in the sun on the overpass. The overpasses are decorated where I live. The two rectangles stick out like sore thumbs. People ask me why I always point them out when going under the overpass with the sun. It's just because they are so glaringly obvious sometimes I don't notice the sun until a few seconds later and I remember that's right they are part of that sun.
