This sounds pretty kewel. A psychologist in Pennsylvania has put together a survey (along with a fellow Aspie student of his) and is wanting to do a study kind of on the myths and attitudes about Asperger's Syndrome-- so as to be a learning study for those who aren't familiar with who we really are and how different we all are, too.

Here's the study:
http://FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurv ... brwx228138

It's got 71 questions that focus on ASDs and then about 20 questions which ask about your background (don't worry, you don't need to give personal info, just general so they know whether you're an Aspie or not, etc.)

It sounds like this is really for a good cause-- OUR CAUSE in getting more accurate info out there to the community and to professionals, too, and start correcting the misinformation put out there by groups like DAN, CAN, Autism Speaks, and so on.

I found it to be somewhat inadequate comapred to the other Aspie quiz.

It's not exactly a diagnostic tool. It's just a survey to find out what people think. The Aspie Quiz asks you questions about yourself in order to give you an idea whether you may be an Aspie or not.

This one is for an actual study and is focusing on opinions and general impressions.

In essence, the real learning wouldn't take place until the whole study is published. Right now, this is just data gathering. :)

Sophist just shows how sometimes people tend to jump into doing surveys without really caring to learn what they are about and make assumptions on their own 'eh? :)

Worth doing, but not worth ALL those exclamation marks.

As permitted, I did e-mail a request for the results, when complete.

I'd love to complete it, but I'm not eighteen yet.

Anyone mind posting more about it? I'm curious.

A lot of emphatic, perspective questions. I answered "don't know" for a lot of questions, especially with "most people with AS. . . ". I can only speak for myself and the people close to me, including the crowd here at WP. There are a lot of diverse opinions here, the discussions are amazing considering the age differences and the spectrum of ability.
People who have more in common (fan sites for instance) can be real bickering types and constantly have to reinforce their commonality to avoid flame wars and division. They use weird, PC language and are always reassuring each other that they are nice.
So, back to the survey, I don't know how the results will come out.

I'll be sure to post the results on here once the study's complete. :)

Btw, has anyone had problems completing the survey due to a computer glitch? I have an online friend who uses Firefox and tried to take it, enabled all his cookies, and he's even a computer programmer and can't figure out why it refuses to allow him to complete the survey. Anybody else having similar problems?

Yes, but it's definitely worked at getting peoples' attention. ;)

Here's some background info. Not sure how much more descriptive it is that what I posted earlier:

Dr. Jeff Rudski wrote:
Three students and I have been working on a survey examining knowledge and attitudes relating to Aspergers and autism. What is unique about this project is that the items were generated from comments and suggestions by adults with Aspergers. We would appreciate it if you could find the time to complete the survey.

I must admit, I'm sometimes guilty of that, too.

I took the survey. I think it is pretty "radical" coming from professional circles. I'd recommend more people to take it.

It's really a survey of attitudes and knowledge of autistics, and not a instrument for self-diagnosis.

I just kept putting "don't know", and "neutral."

Why, because I don't know, and I don't really agree or disagree to some things.

I agreed + disagreed to the obvious ones anyway.

Yes, much of what Dr. Rudski designed was suggested by AFF (so that might point towards where this bias is coming from).

It was a decent survey, in my opinion. Most of the attitudes were more sociological rather than strictly psychological.

I do not know if people with AS feel emotions or empathy. There is something emotionally and empathetically different about people with AS or autism and those who are NTs.

Because of the restricted responses of the survey I find myself stuck on certain questions which I feel are too general and i understand that it is trying to be simple or black and white with an AS and NT concepts but when im looking at the questions and whether to agree or disagree with the statements im thinking well hold on this is not purely this or purely that.

It is easy to pick it apart but i guess at least some kind of research is being done.

Plus ive never clicked disagree so much in a survey
