I was so oblivious in my younger years I didn't know what my peers thought of me. My mom said I had small smart, which means the intelligence you're blessed with, but lacked big smart, which means wisdom and life experience. Well I was a teenager then, of course I didn't have the second one.

This would definitely be applicable here too. I've also had the "stoner" accusations here and there, which I never understood at the time. I was fired once for it, and I had a counselor refuse to speak with me because they thought I was high. I ended up eventually heading out and staying stoned for a long stretch. Sad part is, I never experienced the same camaraderie since.

Yep people think I'm stupid because I need to think about what I want to say. But then they copy off me in tests so I'm confused

They are some people who think i am stupid but other people would say that i am very clever.

Same here. The older I've gotten, the more people think I'm clever, and the less obvious my disability seems to become.

No. People usually assume I am clever just by looking at me. I am not sure why. Eventually, they discover my above average learning skills and my broad knowledge of random facts (the result of spending most of my childhood and teenager years reading encyclopaedias) and they begin to think I am gifted.
However, after some time, they realize that I am actually very naive (my emotional intelligence must be on the level of a 6 years old kid) and I really do not know how to interact with people.
Afterwards, their opinions change according to my actions; whenever I do something "smart" (generally related to work or school), I am a genius. When I do something stupid (like being tricked or acting like a fool in front of other people), I am crazy. But I am never considered stupid.

My own opinion on how intelligent/stupid I am depends on my mood. But I generally have a lower opinion of myself than what other people (lead me to think they) do.

DISCLAIMER: It should be noted that, while I strongly suspect I have Asperger's syndrome, I am not diagnosed. Nevertheless, my score on RAADS-R is 186, which makes me a pretty RAAD guy.

People more often think I'm highly intelligent when I'm clearly not by any real measurable stretch of the imagination. They might well see in their heads an enigma that does not really exist.

Sometimes and it is most likely the lack of facial expression and the lack of appropriate verbal response. It is insulting to me since I have done well academically. In the past I was told by someone that I seemed to think before I spoke which I appreciated.

I have noticed that people who blab on and on will often seem to speak before they think. Hmmm....
