They use cats as therapy animals so they are allowed in hospitals and nursing homes. I'm not sure how much that relates, but certainly they are trainable.

I have cats as well. My orange tabby would make a marvelous emotional support cat. He's big and goofy and loves people.

I get along well with those cats that don't like people. I get along well with "people cats" too, but my connection to the introverted cats is much deeper maybe because I'm that way too.

I'm the same way. For instance my friend told me as I reached out "Don't touch him he won't let anyone pick him up". Before she could get the entire sentence out I had hoisted the kitty up on my shoulder. He sat there calmly on my shoulder and looked around then nuzzled against my cheek. Meanwhile my friend stood there looking with her jaw dropped and said "he doesn't let anyone do that to him". I just snuggled with him and kissed him and said he's a good kitty and he purred like a motorboat. Another friend has a cat that is very skittish, but she follows me around when I would visit their home.
