Do you agree that ASD folk focus more on external events?

I just read an article about Stephen King's critique of Kubrick's rendition on The Shining.
And it made me think about an earlier thing I read which suggested that those on the ASD spectrum tend to focus more on the external environment, and less on the internal emotions that people go through.

However, I've read certain posts from people on here which suggest otherwise.
Is this 'attribute' of ASD something that diminishes with age??

I agree with what someone else said that we deal with extremes. Some of us focus emotionally and others externally. But whatever we do it's usually intense. I focus emotionally. Which at times can be great and other times is a nightmare.

Yes. My conscious thought has always tried to filter out all conceptual things and emotions. That leaves concrete things that are external to the mind.
