Below is a link to a story about an autistic boy who was the victim of a pretty vicious assault. Yes, it is an assault and shows just how terrible people who are different than the "norm" are treated.

I agree. The world treats us like s**t in every sense of the word.

I've gone to special needs school with mostly autistic kids, my whole life. I was beaten up more than once. One time some kid smashed me in the back of the head with a big rock etc. I think it's just the old saying....kids can be mean....even autistic kids can be mean.

I believe much of this is due to instinct. If you look at much of the animal world, it is the same. Those that are perceived as different or defective are either killed or driven out of most social animal groups. Humans are no different. We like to think being human we would be civilized, however instinct drives the defectives out for the survival of the group. Both to keep the gene pool healthy, and if in the case of predators it does little good if the one defective can't read the social cues of the rest of the group. This behaviour in the wild can put the whole group at risk. Yes in some instances it is intentional for humans to do this. Even if they are good and compassionate people it can be a subconscious thing for most. Kids haven't learned socially acceptable behaviour so when young will let instinct take over. And once they do even then they will just ignore us and not include us in on their activities. Just my observations and conclusions fwiw... :x

The greatest irony of humanity is that we build our civilizations out of the oppression of others and then claim that we have ended the oppressions of all.

KB8WCB, The most shameful feature of humanity are the conceptual excuses humans derive for their behavior.

ALL :) : This was reported in a Finnish news paper today: A "rich looking" woman in "fine" clothes had talked seriously inhumanly and loudly about a disabled girl in front, including saying that people like that shouldn't live. Everyone including the girl heard it. The customer service person asked the woman to stop and apologize several times, but the woman continued. When it was the woman's turn, she made her order like nothing had just happened. The customer service person denied to serve the woman in which point she started her celebrity ego like statements: You don't know who I am? I'll get you fired. The customer service person denied to serve despite the numerous threads and didn't get fired.

But the thing that struck me in that article was the insightful statement the customer service person made. A thing all people should remember while they spend their precious one life among others:

Some people act like their actions wouldn't leave a permanent mark on other people. They do.

To not serve people like that is evolution!

I'm not normally one for quotes, however I feel as though this suits the crux of your statement well.

?What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool?
You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave, chatting and socializing and not getting anything done.?

I went to school with all NT kids 99.9% of the bullying was name calling and making a fool of me I never had to deal with much physical stuff thankfully. ?

I am sorry this has happened you.

The hate I have for people who bully other people is off the chart.
