Do other Aspies have trouble staying asleep.

I usually have no problems falling asleep, but I always wake up several hour before I need too. Do other aspies have this problem? How to you confront it?

I have problems staying asleep during the nights and usually wake up between 1-4 times per night. I sometimes wake up earlier in the mornings than I have to as well. Not sure if it's connected to AS in any way though.

Hell yea! Normally I fall asleep around 1 or 2 am despite my best efforts to go to bed at 12 midnight normally I would have to force my self to sleep which could take an hour or two however I normally wake up 5-10 times during the night.

What is worse if I have something that is added to my in addition to my "normal" routine I always wake up every hour worrying if It's close to the time I would need to wake up even tho I have my cell phone set to wake me up I sub consciously try to beat the alarm clock.

Yep, had this problem for years. Go to sleep, wake up about 2 hours later. Wander around for awhile, go back to bed, sleep maybe 2 or 3 hours and I'm awake again. Try again in the afternoon and its pretty much the same. Never actually feel rested.

The earliest I go to bed is 3 am and I have some trouble tyring to get to sleep and since I recently moved home, I am still adjusting now and with a different texture to the bed as compared to the previous bed. Even as a little boy I had a lot of difficulties getting to sleep at an appropriate time. I have found some way of treating this insomnia which I am not sure whether it is Asperger syndrome or something else. But I have found that eating spacecake in the evening can help when it kicks in has the strength of an evenings marijuana smoking session especially with nice relaxing music in the evening. Another technique I had is that I have got some blackout curtains so my bedroom gets pitch black at night. the only times I get up for is going to the toilet and or when I am woken early due to building work outside. Some nights I have had no sleep and when this happens I just watch films or documentaries uploaded to You Tube till 7 and then turn in after a better sleep or having a nap on the floor or bed during the afternoon. at least my bedroom does not glow yellow with the sodium light from the street lighting outside. :arrow:

I have a VERY hard time staying asleep. I think most of it has to do with my medications too. Like others have said, I wake up about 1 to 4 times a night. Sometimes, I'll wake up around 2 to 4 in the morning and stay up because I can't fall back to sleep again.

Almost all the time. Typically - I will fall asleep sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 and then find myself awake again at about 2:00. Then I will only have very choppy sleep until I need to wake up and get ready for work. Oh, how I wish I could offer a suggestion of what can be done to improve that.

This was the problem for which I sought the help of a psychologist who specialized in sleep issues. That eventually led me down the rabbit hole to being diagnosed HFA.

For me it was worse with high anxiety levels, but the I'm anxious most the time, so I went years waking up 2-3 hours before I planned on, thus getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Usually I would wake already in an anxious state and so would not be able to get back to sleep.

Sleep is better now, it took a lot of work, and it has been helped with medication.

I don't, once I'm asleep I'm asleep. But about half the time it's takes a good hour or two to get to sleep, other times it takes about 20 minutes. A few years ago, up until the beginning of last year it took me 3-4 hours every night to go to sleep.

I had that problem recently for awhile but I was being woken up a couple times a night by having to pee. I do drink a lot of water but I started a med for overactive bladder which helps. I still sometimes wake up an hour or couple before I'd want to but I can usually go back to sleep if I try.

I don't sleep well and seem unable to fall asleep before about 3 am no matter what I do, including depriving myself of sleep for 24+ hours and trying to go to bed early on the second day.

For me it's the opposite, I have a hard time falling asleep. It usually takes me a good hour after getting into bed to fall asleep, but once I'm asleep I can sleep for like 12 hours with no issues.
