How rare is AS where you live?

Where I live, it's as rare as a Master Ball in a Pokemon game.


No one knows what it is, and no one understands it.

It's rare all over the world, RedMage.

It obviously isn't in America! I mean, there's a lot of people here with AS from America. Then look at where I'm from; I'm the ONLY one on WP from this town.

Murray Bridge in South Australia.

There are 9 or 10 Aspies in the Houston area--not including myself, and that's only on online forums.

Wichita Falls, the town where I will be attending college in August, might not have very many. The closest major cities that would have AS support groups would be Dallas-Fort Worth, or Oklahoma City.

I'm sure there is Aspies where I live, just not my age.

I've only seen one person online from Minnesota, and none from my childhood hometown (Columbus, OH). It might just seem more common in the US because it's a big country - I mean, this is an English-speaking website, and the US has more English-speakers than any other country, right? I think AS is evenly distributed, and rare everywhere, per capita.

Where I live it seems like noone knows about AS, just know about autism in general, and most of people think autism as only one variation.

I know two people who I suspect they might have AS, there is one, who I spoked sometimes, I haven't seen him in years, the way he acted remins me a little of Mr Bean, but the difference is that he was hungry for socializing, he always wanted to be with people, go to parties and get a girlfriend but he always ended up frustrated. The other one is a cousin of mine, she is 22, lives 5 hours from where I live, she isn't social, doesn't go out, had depression. Also I have a brother who seems to have some aspie traits but is very high functional.

I've known at least five of us in person here in Indiana.

I've met one really obvious person with AS in my town, but I have no idea how common it really is; it's not like everyone who has it will walk up to me and tell me. I know it's not very obvious in me, so I don't know why it would be obvious in every other aspie.

I used to know a guy from my clubhouse who had it.

I knew someone who had it, but he's a kid.
