It's hard because they are soooo skinny but that's the industry they are in. I don't think you can blame the industry for making girls too skinny though. I know a lot of people like to say that. That being said, I think they all look pretty great. I liked Janet too until I heard hear interview. She sounds like a spunky cheerleader... I have a feeling she'll be getting on my nerves. :)

I hope Heather goes far in the competition. The more she's on screen, the better the chances that aspergers will be discussed.

sarahstilettos, do you look a bit like her then?

the second one, janet, if you...

1.dyed the hair blue/black
2.put in blue contact lenses
3.added about half a stone and made her figure, like, slightly less good
4.made her, um, not quite so good looking

Then it might bear a passing resemblance to me.

Mish, I was quite bothered by the blatant use of photoshop, but they look like that in the program too? Yes, it is an unrealistic image, I guess I've got too used to them always being skinny to get outraged about it.

I had to miss the show last night, but I'll catch the rerun Sunday night. How did she do so far?

I saw a brief interview with her on the show's website, and she seems really sweet and easy-going. She may do just fine with the other girls, if only because they'll all be afraid to be cruel to her on camera and risk making themselves look bad for picking on a "disabled" girl.

Interesting, I'll try to find the time to watch.

She is painfully thin, though. Painfully. I'm afraid I just can't find that attractive - it looks like she'd break if you handled her roughly, I have this idea in my head that if she fell over she'd snap like a dried twig. Plus with all the problems with eating disorders prevailant in modern western societies, I think it does us no good to have that as the paragon of female beauty. The Italians have the right idea, passing laws saying models have to pass a health test to show that they don't have an eating disorder, and can't be underweight.

I absolutely agree with not allowing models who are under a certain weight be involved in any of the fashion shows. I also think that no one under the age of 16 should be involved in that either without a guardian. I know this is getting in depth for some people (modeling is one of my biggest obsessions) but that is why no one from this show is ever going to be a top model. The girls on this show are already past the age that girls start in this business. A lot of today's more popular models started at 14 or so. Kate Moss did (look where that got her) and Mila Jovovich (now an actress) also started at 14. Too young in my book but that's the industry.

I don't look at them as "attractive" as that's not what I'm into ;) but if I were into that, I'd want someone with a bit more meat on their bones.

Some women are actually very thin - I am, my whole family is. I've always been teased about it, probably a good deal more than other females are teased about being overweight. Let's face it, it's the thin women who really stand out, not the heavier ones. And we aspies know what really happens to those who "stand out," don't we? So whenever I hear about American women's obsession with "thinness," I'm a little sceptical. I think it's really about American women's obsession with objectifying, and competing brutally with, other women...and for believing they have the right to be something they're not, even if it kills them in the process.

We won't get this programme for some time in UK, I had a look on the website and saw a video of Heather. Yes she does seem to have AS, rather tense and lots of flappy arm movement good luck to her. Don't think I could stand living with a bunch of grumpy, hungry women but there you go!!

I watched that last night and all I could think was give these women something to eat before they waste away. It's just too skinny... even for that height. And they expect us women to be able to have a figure like models and it's not always possible.

She doesn't seem too skinny to me. That looks like a healthy weight. Look at her arms.

ROFL! I hope she can keep her positive outlook and not worry about fitting in. It's going to be so much fun watching those girls try to figure her out!!
