I've found that most NT's generally don't believe me when I say I very rarely lie...in fact i've only recently "learned" how to be more effective at it and still i'm pretty bad at it...it's something i've never really understood...even little white lies are difficult for me....anyone have any tips on handling lies better?

I am too very bad at handling lies, to the point where I rarely lie because it just shows when Im lying. If someone asks me if their haircut looks good and I think it does not, the best I can do is say "it looks Ok", in an almost robotic way. Im also having a hard time pretending Im interested when Im not whenever someone talks to me about something... socially ackward? Right on!

Why do you want to lie?
Dont you know that lying invalidates the human gift of communication and turns you into a grunting animal?
ie, once you have discovered a person has lied to you, you can safely assume that any thing that comes out of his mouth is also a lie and therefore a waste of your time to even listen to.

One thing that proves my point, is that you can easily spot liers, because they easily assume that you must also be a lier, see!, they have allready invalidated the power of communication in thier own minds by thier own actions.

I try not to lie simply because people usually find out the truth anyway and then you are a liar. I'm not too good at it anyway, so it doesn't matter.
As far as "little white lies" go ( such as "do i look fat" or "do you like my hair"), I usually lie just because i don't want to get beat up or something. all you have to do to tell this kind of lie and not feel like you are lying is to think of someone you've seen that is even fatter or with an even worse hairdo--- you can then tell them they look alright and not feel like you are lying to them because you've seen much worse.
Some people i must tell the truth to, even if it is a question about their weight or their hair--- some people prefer honesty no matter what, and I will oblige even if they don't like the answer.

People in general find Aspergers and aspies hard to believe.

YEAH, I used to get that all the time. Sometimes I still do. But I HATE lies! If I lie, I feel bad about it. Sometimes I lie just to kid around and see peoples reactions, but I generally don't even let a minute pass before I say I was just kidding. I don't know where I got that from, but oh well... I ALSO sometimes parrot things back wrong so that they can spot the mistake. If they don't spot IT, I know I may have made a mistake elsewhere as well.

I don't lie, because I think it's wrong, and because I am a bad liar. People will know by my face how I'm feeling. A lot of people without Asperger's are terrible liars, too, yet they feel compelled to do it anyway.

am get this to off NTs,with staff for instance, after asking am for an answer, they say they don't believe it,then go and ask parents and get the same off them.
on the notebook review forum some time ago, there was a thread about something or other [can't remember exactly what] and one of the users was being told to lie to his parents,he said he couldn't lie,so others were nasty to him and also called him a liar, they were bad people.
am cannot lie,and also choose not to lie,am cannot use something that hasn't happened/does not exist, this gets am into deserved trouble, but that is what happened so it can't be changed.

I am not a good liar, so I simply tell the truth all the time. Nobody ever believes me anyway

If anything, I put my foot in my mouth by telling the truth. I don't say anything mean. It is merely a statement of fact that sounds naive to others.

I kind of stopped developing before the onset of exhibiting and understanding deception.

I don't see it as a "bad" thing at all.

"Yes, mom, I did my homework..."

...the only lie I ever mastered... K-12 grade homework was so mundane I wanted to shoot myself... and now that I actually DO my homework in college, I don't even need it anymore...

I abhor lies and rarely lie unless it is a small one to avoid my mother's wrath.

I never lie about serious stuff, but I've been known to make up stuff... or really extend the truth... for the purposes of humor.

I hate manipulating people and not knowing what's really going on...
