[Studies That Show Childhood] Censorship Better for Society?
Makes all the sense in the world.
Thanks for starting this topic, btw. Interesting subject. I too would really like to see some actual studies. Too lazy to Google right now
No problemo! I'm happy that I'm not the only one interested in this.
How people act and react in a society has less to do with how free/censored ideas are, and has more to do with the mainstream ideas of society/culture, themselves.
Censorship can be both plausible, but it can also be negative. It depends entirely on the situation at hand.
The only possible way to tell if censorship is progressive or harmful, is to know everything involving that particular focus. Something that is clearly impossible in this day and age, let alone future ones.
If you want a good method on WHAT should or should not be censored, there really is only one possible way to arrive at a good answer. However, many may question its ethics. You would have to put entire groups of diverse children(ethnic and otherwise) from birth in completely enclosed environments, as independant and control variables.
You would than have to observe the differences based on the variables of the environments for the prolonged life of those individuals.
Short of understanding everything from genetics, to environmental cause/effect, to various laws of the universe in physics/chemistry/etc., the experiment on controlled societies that could be observed over prolonged periods of time is the only possible solution.
So...unless you have a firm understanding of the natural law of the entire universe...or are willing to debate the world in an entirely ethical/unethical dilemma, your best option is to acquire as much data as you can PER situation.
Hence the reason I say, that censorship can be both beneficial or harmful...and most likely both in some form or another.
It is simply another alternative. No more, no less.
