Can you tell the difference by the way someone posts and what they post if someone is an NT or an Aspie if it is not mentioned in their profile?

I assume everyone is aspie on these forums, unless they state otherwise.

It don't matter to me if someone has Munchausen's... I'll take people at face value.

I can tell. (At least I think I can!)
NT posts are either explaining how difficult it is to cope with behaviour they don't understand or are carefully explaining how to conform to the norm.

And I get little information from them about WHY I should conform to the norm, they usually just take that as a given that it is something I am striving to do.

(that last bit makes me chuckle)

No. I've found that anyone who posts here regularly is a little off from the norm, regardless of their diagnostic status. Doesn't seem to be much of a distinction.

There's a difference?

What do I appear to be?

You are just Sid and I like it when someone stays the same.

Usually no. There's a few writing styles that I associate strongly with people being autistic, but most autistic people don't have those writing styles.

No. I can't tell at all unless someone says or says they stim or do something really obvious.

I do notice general patterns. When I read the Parents' Forum, where more NTs post, I notice that certain writing styles are more common than elsewhere on WP. It's kind of interesting. But I don't go so far as to guess if someone's AS, NT or otherwise based on the way they write.

Spot the Difference topic

I find NTs easier to understand when they write. Then there are no extraneous data to worry about. It is a more level playing field. But they can be just as nasty, as can anyone here, Aspie or not.

I would be grateful in Anbuend would explain the differences in Aspie/Nt writing style.
I am on the edge of my seat--literally. :)

I make no effort to distinguish writings as autistic or neurotypcial sourced. No, I probably couldn't tell one from the other if I tried.

Something I do pay attention to is the wide varieties of writing styles used. I tack these styles to individual people, not categories of people. Some adhere strictly to proper grammar and spelling; some make no effort to do so; which is more autistic or neurotypical? Some are very terse; some are hyperverbose; which is more autistic or neurotypical?

I prefer to use proper grammar, with license taken for conscious personal style modifications; I know others who choose not to pay much heed to grammar, and who seem at least as autistic as I am. I can't spell myself out of a paper bag (I do try to use a spellchecker); I know others who can and do spot every spelling mistake I make, and they seem at least as autistic as I am. I'm hyperverbose; I've gotten numerous complains of my posts being too long and rambly; I know people who rarely post more than a sentence at a time, and I consider them to be at least as autistic as I am.

For the record, this particular post is perfectly neurotypical; I am feeling very unautistic today.

Good fortune,
