I get colds all the time from a lack of sleep, usually. I need to take better care of myself!

This is very interesting!! ! Damien (5yrs, HFA) is hardly ever sick. I don't recall him having a cold last winter and has only had hayfever (allergies) and reflux.
But he almost always seems 'snuffly' in the nose :?

And the snuffly bit could just be low grade allergies.

I think it's very interesting as well. There seems to be a pattern developing.

I don't really get sick, or at least I never catch anything from my family/coworkers etc. Only time I've had to stay "home" for 1 day was 2 years ago when we were hiking in the Alps and it was very cold and windy and we all forgot to put on a few more layers of clothing ;) But does that count as being sick?

The time before that I had trouble breathing for 2 months after skiing (although that might be unconnected), but I never went to a doctor, so I have no idea what that was.

Hardly ever. I had a perfect school record for most of my high school career (only broken by one stomach bug as far as I can recall!) and it is extremely rare for me to have to take sick days from work.

I only ever tend to get things when my immune system is run down (I have an underactive thyroid, and as long as I am on enough medication, my immune system seems to be pretty strong).

I only even get stomach bugs about once every 10 years (seriously)! & even then, not very badly.

I have had more problems with chest complaints developing from colds, but now that I have flu jabs, I haven't even had a cold all year!

(Now, having posted this, I'll probably go down with something tomorrow!)

I used to get sick all the time when I was younger, maybe in part due to the fact that school was stressful and took it's toll on my immune system and partly due to everyone in public school showing up sick all the time and spreading it to everyone else. My attendance record in high school was awful mostly because of that.

More lately I don't get sick as often, and I hardly ever miss class in college, but occasionally I do get fairly sick. This morning when I got up I was all aching and feverish, though, so I don't know :)

I was constantly sick when I was younger and I had the Whooping Cough and Mono back in high school, but I haven't had anything other than a cold since, thankfully. I get random headaches and stomach aches a lot, but those are probably stress-related from work.

I make it a point never to get sick. Whenevr I'm around sick people (my roomate) or think I may feel a little something (fever) I immediatly start taking vitamins, getting rest, praying, etc. I hate, hate, hate getting sick. I get terrible respitory problems as a result that last for months. When I was young I'd get sick and my bronchitis would get really bad, had inhalers and stuff, couldn't do certain activities. I hated that. Now it's not so bad though sometimes it can get rather serious (can't walk a flight of stairs without an attack) so I try my best not to get sick at all.

Aside from that I have a thing about germs. If I know someone is sick or that there are definite germs somewhere, I freak out. My roomate once had the flu and I was wiping down and disinfecting every surface everytime she left the room. Washing my hands every 4 hours. My friends all thought I was out of my mind. But I could not handle the thought of her germs around me. I even had to open the window at night ( in the winter!) in the hopes that her germs would float away. I didn't know I could be that much of a germaphobe. I even had a panic attack watching a news special about rapidly spreading disease...-_-'''
It's really only if I notice or pay attention to the fact that there are germs. I can touch the hand rail in a public building just fine, but everytime I hear someone cough or sneeze I freak and try to cover my mouth/nose. I hate being near someone that could possibly have germs. *shudder*

I have a horribly weak immune system and live with 4 children- 3 who are in school and preschool. I'll just say that in the cold/flu season, I'm lucky to enjoy a week here and there when I'm not sick. So far I've had Bronchitis, the flu which lasted 3 weeks, sinus infections, and many cold bugs with and without fever. My husband is lucky: he only gets about 1/2 of what I do, but he's not in such close contact with the kids all the time.

I'm allergic to all 3 major classes of antibiotics, so I don't go to the Dr. when I've got Bronchitis unless I'm worried it's progressed to pneumonia(has happened twice in the past-I have asthma). I usually allow my immune system to try its best for 3 weeks before biting the bullet and going to the Dr. It's usually enough and I get over it.

Glad it's not just me! At the moment everyone seems to have been going down with the Norovirus and I have been trying not to get physically close to anyone, or eat without washing my hands if I have touched any communal object or surface (I'm pretty obsessive about hand-washing at the best of times!)
