I have to ask. I had a few things happen to me in the past, and recently realized they may be AS symptoms:

1. When I went to germany, I got off with little ease at speaking German, but a few minutes later it almost felt natural.
2. At times, if I try to do something that is very abstract, and it requires a lot of variables, etc.... it is almost like a part of my mind just gets loaded with the information, and only then does it come natural.
3. If confronted by something that happened a while ago, I may not remember it AT ALL! I feel like an idiot because it seems everyone else remembers it. A few minutes later I remember EVERYTHING, and more than anyone else.
4. If someone presents me with a heavily biased viewpoint, and wants a response, it really takes me a few minutes to properly lay out a response.

Have you seen similar things in your life?

They sound like normal responses under stress. I know the same traits you listed are aggravated in my when I feel more stressed out.

Me I do what I call a relay of a moment, like 20 mins later where I can see what actually Occurred like one example how people are acting towards me, nice or rude, or their tone of voice,

Doesn't sound like a cognitive delay to me.

No.

A cognitive delay would be taking a few extra years in catching up to your peers in academia. Before school, think of a "backwards" child who takes far longer to learn things than his or her peers; telling the time for example.

Early IQ tests are usually inaccurate in autistic individuals compared to how they are when adults as there's usually a cognitive delay. Some catch up, some don't [on standardized tests].

O, and I had a cognitive delay (mother and psychiatrist said such), but I caught up.

I meant in literal terms. I forgot that there might be a CLINICAL description.
